[adult swim] & Philosophy

In these past couple years we've all seen advertisements and celebrities all changing gears. Perhaps not celebrities, but spokesmodels, and this leads to commercial actors and that leads to advertising. The advertisers are forever geared towards the 18-30 demographic and those of us, most of us, that fit into that are gracious. Things are much more lame. Carson Daly, but he's a bad example. People like Mo Rocca, the cool, lame nerd guy is suddenly cool. One can only think to credit this, in part, to Seth Cohen. Making emo nerds everywhere dateable.

This has also inspired a new type of humor being used in commercials and almost everywhere advertising or seeking profits somehow. Although it's not yet ubiquitous, it still persists and consumes a large portion of advertisements. The type of humor of which I speak is best demonstrated by [adult swim]. The dry, random, smart humor seems to be everywhere, but never on such grandeur as its portrayal by [adult swim] and shows on [adult swim].

I feel those at [adult swim] are trying to dictate what is funny. Although as I begin to type, this all begins to sound dumb. It seems like they're trying to say, we're the funniest mother fuckers ever, please try and make us laugh by sending us your viewer mail, however we will always trump you, for we are the all-mighty-adult swim. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but [adult swim] are trying to take over the world.

While watching Pimp My Ride, I realized, I miss the good ol' days of that show. It used to be kinda fun to watch before it became such a successful show and they started testing it and realizing what people like best. Now they do that, along with a nice thing called corporate sponsorship. I feel Xzibit has lost all his street cred officially now. (What little street cred that still remained from when he became a rapper. I feel some ghetto thugz everywhere will lose cred for X just by being a rapper and rich.) And if he stepped foot on their turf, they would 187 his ass. Lameness of the show is now multiplied by 100 after they started hocking up best buy and directv and all the other merchandise they show. They get paid to be a show/TV catalogue.

And dont even get me started on the shoddy editors they have. The Producers suck too. But I guess thats what makes us love that adorable little show. And now we can just hate it more...but i can still make fun of its idioty.
