Your entry strikes me as one feeling the Isolation, a feeling I can certainly understand from my personal perspective. It seems to come in waves, depending on the depth of interest in the immediate at the time. There are times when I take no notiice of it whatsoever, events in my environment being paramount. There are other times when I step back from even my own investment and I have a similar sense to what you describe.
I think it's a healthy pursuit. There are few better ways to gain the optimal perspective such a view point provides, sans all the personal clutter and investment in external rubbish. I see these times as excellent mapping moments, times to see where my course has brought me and to weigh the available choices of next steps.
Of course, what I've said here has been said a million times before, a lot of those times, by us at various coffee houses or living rooms in assorted parts of the country. It bears repeating, however, in that I know that some of our best conversations and strangest eras have come from these moments.
