-Chapter 3-

“You don’t want me to walk you home?” Jaejoong asked as Yunho was going to step out.

“Walk me home?” Yunho said with an almost disbelieved laugh.

“Well it’s really late and kind of pitch dark now…” Jaejoong said, getting up and putting on his jacket.

“Look, I’m a man so I can take care of myself…” Yunho said, a little bit cockily.

“Yea, whatever.  I’m still walking you home” Jaejoong said, walking towards the exit.

“No!  I don’t need you to-“

“Listen.  You’re the first friend I ever had and I’m not planning on losing you so soon… so… “ Jaejoong trailed off, giving Yunho a serious glare which shut him up.  Jaejoong went out the door and Yunho followed him.

“Oh God!  Finally home!” Yunho said once they arrived at his house, panting “you attract the strongest creatures, don’t you?”

“I don’t know about that, but they sure have gotten stronger recently… I have no idea why…” Jaejoong said, out of breath.

“Well… that sounds exciting…” Yunho said and Jaejoong couldn’t tell if he was joking or not “Alright, I’m going in now…” Yunho said and they both lifted their arms up, about to hug, but then they both stopped and instead waved awkwardly at each other.

Jaejoong looked at Yunho’s house and deduced that he must be rich; only really rich people could buy a house in a country like Korea.

Jaejoong still couldn’t believe that he had made a friend, but wondered though, if the whole dating thing was still on.

Morning.

Jaejoong woke up and the first thing he did was to look at the statue on his desk.  Something felt strange about it.

“What are you up to now…?” Jaejoong said to it, sighing.  No answer.

“Well… whatever, as long as it’s not something bad…” Jaejoong said, squinting at the object playfully; he was in a really good mood still because of the fact that he now had a friend -boyfriend- whatever…

He felt like it was going to be a good week…

~ ~ ~

A few miles away, in a university, two girls were huddled together, whispering to each other.  One had long straight black hair and glasses.  She had small lips and a child-like button nose.  Though her face seemed child-like, the way she dressed made her look a lot more up-tight and mature.  The other girl looked like an exchange student; she had large blue eyes with abnormally large black irises and blond hair.  She was quite tall girl and was dressed a lot more casually than her friend.

“He is so cute, oh my god, what do you think Emily?” the Asian girl asked her friend.  The two of them were half-discreetly looking at a very cute guy across the hall.

“Lily, stop spazzing so much, he’s coming this way!” Emily said, elbowing her half0mature looking friend.  The cute guy walked pass, blushing as the two girls probably weren’t discrete enough.

“I think his name is Junsu!  He’s in my drawing class!” Lily said excitedly, clapping her hands together once the guy was out of sight.

“Oh my God!  You’re so lucky!” Emily exclaimed, giving a light slap on the other’s arm.

“Ow!  Be nice to your unnie!” Lilly said exaggeratedly, pretending that she was in actual pain.

“Sorry~” Emily chirped, giving her unnie a hug.

“C’mon, let’s go home…” Lily said, linking her arm with Emily as they walked out.

~ ~ ~

“Hey… isn’t that Junsu?” Lily exclaimed, pointing at the cute guy walking in a little alley in between two apartment buildings a few blocks away.

“He’s by himself…” Emily said without much purpose in the way she expressed that.

“Should we follow him?  Haha” Lily half-joked.  They looked at each other for a second, then started walking spazzily after Junsu.  God knew what made them do such an impulsive thing.

Once they were in the alley where Junsu was previously, the cute male specimen was already gone.

``This alley is so creepy looking… why would Junsu walk here?” Lilly said, clinging to the younger, but taller girl.

“How am I supposed to know?!  Maybe we should walk back?” Emily suggested.  Without even a need for an answer, the two girls spun on their heels and started walking back, but after only two steps, they heard a scream from behind that made them jump. By reflex, they turned around to see who had made such a noise, but there was nobody.  It was dead silent for a minute before Emily turned to Lily.

“Wow… that was freaky.  Let’s get out of-“

Before Emily could finish her sentence, Lily started tugging at her friend frenetically, pointing towards something down in the alley with a frightened expression.  Emily turned her head and saw two beams of light heading towards them at a speed that would be impossible to dodge considering that they’d have to get out of the alley first.  The beams of light were strangely green and azure.

“Ahhh!!” they scramed and made a run for it, but Lily tripped and fell on Emily who also fell on the ground.

“Ahhhhh!!!” they both screamed again as both of them were on the ground, waiting  for death, pain or whatever those two beams of light would do to them.  A burning sensation tickled their backs.

“I don’t wanna die!” Emily yelled, thinking she was going to be combusted alive or something, but after a few seconds when the burning sensation faded away and nothing was happening, Emily opened her eyes, looking around and when she saw that there was nothing, she got up.  Lily was also getting up now.

They just stood there, looking around and when they were sure that there was nothing anymore, they started yelling.

“What the hell was that?!”

“Oh my gosh!”

“You saw it too, right?”

“Yes!  What was that?”

“I don’t know!”

As the two girls were talking loudly, there was another scream coming from the other side of the alley.  The two of them both snapped their heads towards the scream’s direction, their faces again washed with fear.

“Ahhhh!!!” a person yelled as he ran down the alley from the opposite direction.  It was Junsu.

The two girls sighed in relief; it was just Junsu.  But why was he screaming…?

“Run!!!” Junsu squeaked as he ran pass the two girls.

After he said those words, there was a loud roaring sound coming from the other side of the alley.  The two girls looked back once more and saw a gigantic troll-like creature with brownish-green skin walking towards them with great big steps, its mouth dripping with green saliva.

“Ahhh!!  What the hell!!!” Emily screamed as the two of them started running, trying to catch up to Junsu.

“Why is it chasing us?!” Lily yelled; she had caught up with Junsu already.

“Probably because it wants to eat us, you pabo!” Emily yelled back, frustrated that she has to explain stupid things and run for a life at the same time.

“M-maybe it’s just someone in a costume…?” Junsu said between breaths.

“I don’t think anybody could be that big and make such a realistic costume!” Lily said; she had now gone pass the two others, running like the wind was carrying her or something.

“Unnie!  Wait for me!”

~ ~ ~

“Do you think we’ve lost it?” Emily asked.  The three of them were sitting behind a gigantic dumpster, panting heavily.

“Yea… I think we’ve lost the troll thing…” Junsu said; he was shaking a little.

“No… I mean ‘do you think we’ve lost our minds’!  Because I do!” Emily exclaimed hysterically, throwing her arms in the air despite the little space that they have.

“Ew… it smells like… well… it stinks here…” Lily said, putting a hand to her face.

“Well duh!!! We’re behind a dumpster!” Emily said really loudly, looking at Lily with the biggest “duh” look in the world.

“Hey!  Don’t be mean!” Lily shouted at her friend who had too much on her mind to care.

“I was just saying that you were obvious, okay?!” Emily yelled back.  Junsu looked even more traumatized now than when he was chased by the troll.  The two girls looked like they completely forgot the gravity of the situation and had to squabble no matter what.

“Well it’s not like it’s my fault!” Emily said, getting up and stomping her foot.  The ground trembled.

“Ah!  An earthquake!” Lily screamed and the three of them threw themselves on the ground.

“I think it stopped…” Emily said when nothing happened for about a minute.  They all got up.

“I can’t take this anymore!  I’m going home!” Lily said, throwing her arms in the air and a sudden burst of wind came out of from nowhere, messing up the other two’s hair.

“What the heck?!  How did you do that?” Emily asked, her blond hair as messy as a bird’s next now.  Junsu was staring at the whole scene with big surprised eyes.  Lily looked at her own hands, then tried flapping them around which only created a puny little breeze; nothing more.  She wasn’t even sure if it was her or just the natural wind.  Emily repetitively stepped on the ground then to see if she was the one who created the earthquake, but nothing happened either.

“Darn it, why doesn’t it work?!” she said and landed a very firm step on the ground to demonstrate her frustration, but ironically created a small tremor.

“Yay!  You did it!? Lily said while clapping after she regained balance.  Junsu just fell on the ground on his butt.

“Wait… if we can do this… then…” Emily said, turning her head towards poor Junsu who was getting up, rubbing his bubble from the pain of the fall.

“C’mon, try doing something!” Lily told Junsu who tried waving his hands around like she did, but nothing happened, except that he looked stupid in an awkward, but cute way.

“Or try stomping, like me!” Emily said and Junsu did that too, but just ended up looking stupid again.

“Or maybe you can-“

Suddenly, a gnarling sound was heard and the large dumpster was lifted up and tossed aside.

“Ahhh!!  It’s that thing again” Emily screamed, pointing dramatically at the troll who was chasing them earlier.  It raised its gigantic palm in the air.

Emily immediately tried to stomp on the ground, though it didn’t do much.  Lily’s first was to run away, but she seemed to have forgotten that there was a wall behind her so she whirled back to face the thing which seemed to have created a gust of wind behind the beast, making it lose balance and fall forward clumsily... towards Emily.  The blond girl backed off, still trying to stomp on the ground desperately.  A second before the troll was going to crush her, she ducked, covering herself with her arms and screaming.  There was a loud noise then: a rocky sound mixed with the sound of ripping flesh.

“Oh… my… God…” Junsu’s astonished voice said.  The two girls slowly opened their eyes and immediately made a noise of disgust mixed with horror.  The troll was standing in a diagonal position, a rocky spire through its neck.  Blood was dripping down from the creature in large quantity.

“Oh!  This is disgusting!  Let’s quickly get out of here!  Quickkk!” Emily said, a hand covering her mouth, dragging the flabbergasted Lily with her.  Junsu followed from behind, not daring to look back at the gigantic cadaver.

~ ~ ~

An hour later.

Jaejoong walked into the dark alley.  There was the smell of decay and blood… and dumpsters.  The man pinched his noise.  A little ball of light was in front of him, leading him to something.  He followed it.

“Ew… this is gross…” he said when the ball of light led him to the body of the dead green-ish creature.  It was standing in a puddle of its own blood.  Without hesitation, Jaejoong launched a ball of energy at the creature and after a few seconds, it turned to dust and the blood disappeared.

The protruding rock spire also turned to dust.  Jaejoong then went to the dumpster.  He held a deep breath and lifted up the big thing on top of the ashes, thinking how awesome it would be if cleaning back at home could be done the same way.  He then patted his hands together.

“There we go” he said, smiling, but suddenly turned around when he heard footsteps behind him.

“Yunho?  What are you doing here?” Jaejoong asked, pleasantly surprised.  Yunho was panting from running, apparently.

“My cameras picked up something… big and….I followed the trails…” he said, out of breath “But Jae…. Did you kill it…?” Yunho asked.

Jaejoong shook his head.

“Nope” He said with a smile.

“Then… how…?” Yunho babbled in confusion.

“I think… we might have some new friends soon!” Jaejoong said happily.

“What…? “ Yunho asked, still confused.

“Isn’t it wonderful?” Jaejoong said, smiling sweetly and started walking away.  Yunho followed him, a little bit weirded out.

As they walked, Jaejoong was thinking about if the two of them were still dating.  He crossed his arms as Yunho walked behind him.

“Hey Yunho” Jaejoong said, wanting to put his theory to the test.

“Hm?”

“Wanna go for coffee?” he asked with a laugh.

Yunho looked at his watch.  It was 11pm.

“Sure” Yunho said with a chuckle and there was a pause.  Yunho looked like he wanted to start a conversation; the silence was making him very uncomfortable.

“Nice arms by the way.  You work out?” Yunho said out of the blue.

“Nope.  I hunt demons though, but thanks.  You’ve got nice arms too!” Jaejoong returned the compliment.

“Yea?” Yunho said, amused.

“Could you help me find those new friends of ours?” Jaejoong asked as he smiled at the taller man.

“S-sure… yeah!  Okay!” Yunho said and cursed at himself for stuttering so randomly.  Why was he stuttering anyways?  The whole dating thing was fake; it was just to get close to the demon hunter…

“Thanks Yunho” Jaejoong said.

“Maybe I’m just nervous around strangers…” Yunho figured.
