-CHAPTER 47-

“Are you rich too?”

“What company does your family own?”

“What’s your favourite colour?”

I was sitting at the food court with all of the girls.  I finished my lunch half an hour ago while they barely touched theirs.  Their questions are also getting more and more personal.

Blablablablablah… Oh… I’ve gotta find a way to ditch them quickly before I go mad…

“I’m not rich; we don’t own any company and I don’t have a specific favourite colour…” I replied all of them in one shot.  They looked at each other smugly and then back at me again.

“No, c’mon.  Don’t need to play it all low profile-ish, we know that people who go to that school are packed” one of them said with certainty.  I rolled my eyes.

“I’m a scholarship student” I told them and they all made “O”s with their mouths and nodded dumbly.

“Do you have a girlfriend?” one of them asked, whispering as if she was only asking out of curiosity.  I huffed and got up.  They all looked at me with big surprised eyes.

“No” I said and I got up.  I’m tired of this.  They all looked at me, shocked at my sudden action.

“Are you going somewhere?”

“Did I say something wrong?  Don’t go!”

“Sorry, sorry!  Forget she ever asked!”

What the hell?  They’re already acting as if they know me or something.  There’s no way I’m going to get closer with them.

“Haven’t anybody told you that people from our school are also snob?” I said with a sarcastic smirk and left.  As I left, I heard them scream “Ah!  He’s so cool!!!”  “I can’t believe we talked to a guy from Juseok!!”

Wow, are those girls masochists or something?  I wonder if the girls in Yunho’s fanclub are also-

…crap.  I started walking around in the mall.  Clothes, clothes, clothes, shoes, toys- oh!  Hey, look!  Candy!

I went inside the candy store.  The ajhumma that owned the store greeted me with a smile which I returned.  This is the thing that I like about stores such as these.  They don’t come to ask you to try this that and blablabla.  They just let you be.  Sigh, if only more things in life could be like that.  I bought some jelly beans for my friends and some chocolate for myself and went out.  Hm, where to next?

Oh!  A pet store!

As I walked to the pet store, I felt watched again.  Damn!  Did those girls decide to follow me?  Better walk fast!

I got to the pet store and looked behind me.  Phew, coast is clear.  Then, something shuffled agaisnt my leg, surprising me.

“Ah!” I said, jumping a little, but when I turned around and realized that it was just the store’s big dog, I felt more relaxed.  The dog looked up at me, wagging its tail cutely.  Aww.

I was about to pet it when suddenly, it barked.  And it wasn’t a friendly type of bark.  It was aggressive.  It then growled, making the store owner rush my way.

“Down boy!  Down!” the pet owner ordered, but the dog wasn’t listening.  It just kept barking and groaning, but the strange thing that I realized was that it wasn’t groaning at me.  Actually, it didn’t even seem to mind my existence at this moment for it looks like it’s barking at something behind me.  I turned around and looked at what possibly could the dog be barking at, but there was nobody.  Hm, weird.  Maybe there was a robber who just passed?

The dog stopped barking and calmed down a little, but still groaned.  The pet shop owner seemed confused and looked at me apogetically.

“Sorry, I don’t know what got into him” the owner said and I smiled at him.

“It’s okay, I’m sure it has its reasons” I said and patted the dog on the head, making it turn back to its happy state once again.  I looked around the store, looking at other pets.  There were other people in the store, but the big dog of the store just kept on following me.  I don’t really know why; maybe it likes me?  When I was finished looking at the other animals, I decided to give my attention to the big dog; it followed me all this time after all.  However, I noticed that its attention wasn’t totally on me.  It kept looking back and forth from me to the store entrance.  Is it trying to tell me something?

After I bought some treats, fed it to the dog, and played with it a little, I left the store.

“Bye, bye doggie!  I’ll be back another day” I said, smiling to it.  I also said bye bye to the shop owner.  The dog whined as I left.  It sounded more afraid than sad.  Well, that’s how my dog back home sounds like when it’s scared anyways; maybe it’s different for dogs in the city?  Eh, I don’t know, but there’s no need to start getting paranoid.

I looked at my watch.  4pm, hey not bad.  I’ll have time to do a few other things before grocery shopping and heading back home.  I continued walking in the mall.

Someone’s watching me again.  This is getting more and more than just a plain feeling of being watched…this feels… very uncomfortable… it’s making me nervous, even…

I turned back to try to see who could be looking at me, but there’s too many people in the mall, it could be any one of them.

I started walking faster, but I can still feel it.

Faster and faster I walked, but it was still there.  He was still following me.  But… who is he?  Whoever he is, he doesn’t give me a safe feeling.  Why would anybody want to follow me anyways?  It’s not like I was somebody important or anything…

I suddenly stopped in front of a store and looked into its glass windows.  A home utility store…

I entered, going directly to the kitchen section.  After getting all I needed, I bought a few other things and went to the counter.

“Is this all, sir?” the man at the counter asked and I nodded.

“Yes, thank you” I said, paying and then leaving the store.  But before leaving the store, I discreetely put a razor blade that I just bought into my pocket.

I bought a few other things along with my razor blade to not look too suspicious.  After all, what could a teenager dressed in a big black hoodie possibly want with a razor blade, right?  I bought other little innocent stuff like a small vase and some air freshener.  That should be random enough to not look like a delinquent.

Better be safe than sorry…

Forget the groceries; I need to go home, now.  I rushed out of the shopping mall into the parking lot and looked behind me.  A few people were coming out, but none of them had a dangerous feeling to them; just a mom with her kid, a few dudes laughing about what seems like the funniest thing in the world and an overconfident looking woman, walking with a high chin and high heels.  No, it doesn’t seem like it’s any of them.  The feeling of being watched actually kind of dissapeared now that I’m outside.  Maybe I’m just going mad…?  Another person came out of the mall, at least I thought he would, but the person just opened the door a little bit as I was staring at him.  I couldn’t see who the person is since the sun outside made it too difficult to see through the glass doors of the mall.  The person kept the door slightly opened and it seems like the person was looking at me.  I felt a little bit of panic.  Is somebody is stalking me?  I faked walking away a little and then looked back, but the person just kept the door slightly opened still, looking at me.  I stood my ground, staring back, attempting hopelessly to see who the person was, but failed.  Then, the door shut.  Did he give up?

I got my answer quite fast when a big group of people came out of the mall.  All different people and all of them walking in different directions; some to their cars, some not.  Oh shit, he’s going to blend in with the crowd…

Suddenly, I heard the bus arrive several yards behind me.

I made a run for it.

I was sitting, again in the back of the bus, but this time, looking at everybody around me to make sure that the stalker wasn’t there anymore.  Whoever the person was, he wasn’t able to enter the bus.  I was the only person who entered at this stop.  Once the mall was far back behind, I exhaled and sunk into my seat.  Phew… finally got rid of that person…

I looked outside again and felt free.  The feeling was gone; I didn’t feel watched anymore.

“There was no way the person could find me again anyways” I though to myself and smiled.

But I still feel like something isn’t right…

Aw fuck!  I took the bus in the wrong direction!

…Oh well… At least I’m sure that the stalker can’t follow me now.

It took me quite to get back.  It’s already around 6 30 now and the sky is getting quite dark.  I’m almost home though…

Phew what a day.  But darn, I didn’t even get to do my groceries… and there’s no more food in the house.  Ugh.  I guess I’ll just have to eat some leftovers and go tomorrow then.  Stupid stalker, ruining my shopping plans…

Suddenly, I heard some bush around me shuffling slightly.  I looked at it and it immediately stopped.

Must be some animal…

Even so, I ran home.

After locking my door, I ate supper and dropped myself on my bed.

Ugh… sooooooooooo tired.  So, so, so tireeeeeeeeeeeed!  I wish I could sleep, but I didn’t even wash yet, sigh.

I got up.  Maybe some fresh air will wake me up.  I peeled myself an apple and went to the balcony, chewing on it.  Hmmm… the air is so fresh and the night view is quite enjoyable.  I knew I did well, choosing the top floor apartment.

Suddenly, something under my eye shifted.  I looked down of the apartment.  What the hell…?  Was somebody outside watching me?  It’s too dark to see, especially from high up like this.  I swore something just moved.  An animal maybe?  It seems that I’m very prone to be watched nowadays.  Just when I was about to turn away, something shifted again.  I knew I wasn’t imagining things!  I took my apple and threw it at the spot where I saw something move.  I listened for a thump, but there was none.  I quickly went back inside.

Who the hell?  That person caught the apple!

Don’t think too much Jaejoong, it’s probably just a passerby.  A very nosy passerby.

Well, that sure woke me up!

I think I’ll go do some homework…
