I am still in the hunt for a hdtv, for less than $3000.
Currently looking at this
Pioneer 42".
It looks like a really great TV and all the reviews I've googled up have been solid.
What concerns me is that it seems that 42" plasma TV seem to have a nerf'd resolution. Forty-two-inchers with 720p have a resolution of 1024x768, while fifty-and-up have 1366x768. Which means that either you lose some of the image or that the screen gets compressed, I guess. I mean, that's the same def as my monitor right now and it's not widescreen...
That's why I'm putting this out here actually.
mitclax has a 42" Samsung, I know that much, but anyone else here rocking a widescreen TV for gaming and movies? And what model? I read in Wired's special TEST magazine that the 42" Samsung they reviewed had really lousy black levels...
