fourth sunday: hetfic
fourth sunday of the month is dedicated to hetfic (male/female). we actually weren't able to come up with many, which is a little sad, but it should serve as incentive for you all to write us some, right? ;)

normally, i dismiss fic with images scattered throughout the narrative. i find it jarring, i find it takes me out of the flow of the story and i find it pretentious.
that said, i thought that lovelyable’s fic did none of these things. perhaps it was the images themselves, the quiet-but-steady pacing or the fleshed-out scenes that were easily imagined, but i found that the photographs helped instead of hindered. i never thought of seungri and cl as a pairing that would work, but this fic had me rooting for them until the end.

part of a series called "things we keep quiet"; within every group of friends there are things that never see the light of day, things that we all keep under covers, things we keep quiet. big bang is not an exception.
there was something just so quiet and elegant about this that i just absolutely loved. yes, it has top angsting about unrequited love, yes, it perhaps may be a cliche of love triangles and things we may never have, but todefinebeauty did it in such a way that it wasn't too overly dramatic, nor were the characters interchangeable. the author writes top's thoughts with a great balance of wistfulness and reality, ie "sending her flowers and singing for her and baking cookies for her, and he can’t cook to save his life. not to mention that rapping is his forte, not singing. and he’s allergic to pollen". the interaction between top and gd at the end is so brief and simple, yet so heartwrenching, and the last line in parentheses leaves the fic on such a haunting note.
