Today was the first day at my part time volunteer coordination job. All of my coworkers seem like really nice people and I also think that I will really enjoy my supervisor and the executive director. They were really relaxed about things. I also really appreciated how friendly everyone was. I did not feel like the outsider today.. just very new. I'll have a little bit of adjustment to learn how they do things and exactly what my job will entail. I have already set up work on a saturday in may to work the medclinic in cleveland, and I worked an hour over today so I even earned my first hour of comp time already. I am planning on spending the whole of my shift Monday just cleaning out my desk and office and reorganizing things. I have no idea what is in the filing cabinet right now. I do have my very own office though and it has a pretty nice view! (although I am told that it gets pretty hot in the summer and cold in the winter because my supervisor and I have the offices furthest away from heating/cooling system in a pretty old building) Hopefully in the next week or so I will have business cards, and then I will feel very professional. I am hoping that I will prove to be invaluable so that they will soon realize that they need me to be a full time worker. If I got 25 hours at least I could get health insurance through them. That would be great.
In a related note to that...
I need to call the dental school at Case Western tomorrow to get an appointment to get my teeth looked at. I have had an ache in my top right molar the last couple of days. I have not had dental care in a couple of years (besides a prophy day cleaning at the school earlier this year) so despite my impeccable dental hygiene, I might have more. I was hoping to wait until my tax return money, but I can't put it off any longer.
Otherwise all is well in the world.
