Kitten dancing on face all last night. Got paid, cashed check, giving me wonderful loaning mum her money back come dawn, and fading towards sleep - but with one major new happiness. Spent $14 for 100 CDs on the theory that although it was old, there was a very off chance that the CD player in my car (claimed broken when I bought the car, mind) might actually play.
Burned Covenant's Northern Light, as that is the definitive music for driving - and popped in the disk. To Monochrome, to the sweetest sound you can imagine in the perfect silence of Maine woods, in high fidelity, on the best speakers - cheap ass no name brand speakers - that I've ever heard for Covenant. Speakers that turn out to be so good I heard things I've never heard in Monochrome before. No wonder people say, "Play this on a headset." No wonder, at the end of the song, I can only barely force myself to turn the electrical system in the car back off so I don't drain the battery.
Your helping friendly vac lives for music, that's all there is to it.
So instead of going to sleep at eight, here I am burning CDs for dawn at 8:35. Industrial, Jazz, whatever the hell it is Frank Zappa did. And in the car, the spatial perception is just perfect - no dizzyness at all. I'm simply embedded in the sound in a way my off brand earphones never could reproduce. I could live in my car. I really could.
