Caydi is here!

OK, well she's actually been here for a week and 4 hours. She was born last Sunday at 12:24 pm.. but here is the whole story :)

So i had my baby shower on Saturday the 18th, at lunchtime. Brandon and I decided we would try to induce my labor that night because my pelvic pain was getting unbearable! So we went to my best friend Amanda's house that night at 10 pm and her brother made me a Smoothie, comprised of Orange Juice, Ice, Sugar, and Castor Oil. GROSS!! It tasted like I was drinking unflavored lip gloss. No wait, there was a flavor- it was like liquid cardboard. It took me almost an hour to drink it, and I only drank 2/3rds of it because I seriously was about to barf. The castor oil coated my mouth and throat and I could hardly swallow it. EW! (note: castor oil is also a laxative, and it somehow stimulates contractions after it stimulates the bowels lol sorry TMI but you have to know that)

After I drank that horrid concoction, Brandon, Chloe, and I went to Denny's with some friends and then we went home around midnight. Brandon's friends wanted to watch the meteor shower so they invited us to drive with them to the Salt Flats (45 mins away i think?) but I said NO WAY, because there are no bathrooms out there, it's the middle of NOWHERE and I didn't want to have a pooping attack without nearby facilities. Lol. I told him he could go if its what he really wanted to do.. which is female talk for "I don't want you to go" but he did anyway, and he said he'd be back by 2:30 am. (He didn't get back until 5, but that's a story for another day) The castor oil didn't make me poop or anything, which was weird because when i took it to induce my pregnancy with Chloe, it worked after 2 hours. So I figured it wasn't going to work and I went to bed after admitting defeat. But.. surprise! (Turn back now if you hate TMI) I woke up around 4 am and started having diarrhea, so hope wasn't completely lost! At 8:50 am, after a few cycles of pooping and sleeping, i got out of bed because I thought I was peeing the bed. I stood up and more "pee" came out, but I was like "HEY something isn't right" because it felt different than urination does. So I woke Brandon up and said "Either my water broke or I just peed the bed." He said "You peed the bed" and went back to sleep. Grr. a couple minutes later i had a pretty hard contraction so I kicked his ass out of bed and we grabbed Chloe and ran out the door. We took her to his mom's house and booked it straight to the hospital. My contractions were about 1-2 minutes apart right from the point my water broke, and they hurt like a BITCH! We parked across fomr the hospital and as I was walking across the street, i had a contraction so i stood there in the middle of the road hanging on to brandon and using obscene language, lol... when we got to the Delivery Room, i was already dilated to a 5 (that's halfway done, fyi) and i wanted an epidural right away but they had to start an IV first. Which sucked because i have small veins, and the damn nurse blew 2 veins and then punctured a nerve in my hand so my entire left hanf was paralyzed for a while, and i can move it now but it still hurts like a biotch. Anyway, to make this very long story a little shorter- i was fully dilated to a 10 by noon, and we had to wait for the doctor to come in before i was allowed to push, which was GAY. I started pushing at 12:22 and she was born at 12:24. So my entire labor lasted for a grand total of 3 hours and 34 minutes. :) It was the easiest thing I've ever done. (After the pain meds kicked in, of course!)

Caydi Belle Hubert is what we decided on. The Belle part didn't come until maybe an hour before she was born though. She was about a month early, so her breathing wasn't very strong. No biggie though. They sucked some gunk out of her lungs and gave her a oxygen mask for a couple minutes and she was fine. She came out crying, not very loud, but that's just how she is. So far I haven't heard her cry any louder than a newborn kitten, its soooo cute. She was 18 inches long and 6 pounds, 3 ounces. Now she's 5 pounds 13 ounces, but its normal for them to lose 10 percent of their initial birth weight. She looks just like her daddy!!! Pics will come soon!
