Well, that went well, all things considered.
I got home from work saturday morning at 3;30 am, to bed at 4;30, up at 7;30 to get to the Hazardous Wate dropoff. Tht was done by 9;15 and I was on the road by 10;30. Rain and drizzle the whole time.
I got damp from the rain as I put a few last minute things in the bus. I got even wetter when I went into the bank. I got really wet and cold when I stopped for gas; the wind was really chilling. At this ponit I said ''Fuck this'' and turned around and headed home.
I'd been driving less than 5 minutes when the rain stopped. Another 10 minutes and the clouds started to change to grey so I pulled off to the side of the road to consider turning around. Nah. Another 10 minutes after that, the sun came out so I pulled over again to reconsider. I'm glad I did, it stayed sunny for the whole weekend, if a little cool. Cool is better than stinking hot.
The campsite was everything promised. The owners didn't care how many we put on a campsite. As long as we were registered on a specific campsite. we didn't actually have to be on it. Technically, on paper, I shared a site with a young fellow on his own so it cost us each $20 for the night each instead of $40. We had 5 vans and a trailer on the very large campsite.
The group was really nice, 11 buses and 3 trailers showed up. The number was a little lower than she had hoped but I am sure the rain scared off quite a few people. I would have scared me off too but I need to meet more vanagon owners.
She had little prizes, we had a campfire and a dessert pot luck that evening and generally, it was a very pleasant time.
Sunday, I could have gone to an evening pub moot in Hamilton but elected to go to Brantford Volkwagon's year end bash and car show. Now, that turned out to be much more fun than I had figured on. Lots of cool bugs and vans and again, lots of nice people. I didn't win any prizes but it was a good time.
I arrived home supper time-ish, brought in A few things and then went to bed. All that fresh air and sunshine.
A great weekend
