The storm arrived on time, with heavy rains and high winds. My gut instinct had been to stay home and ride out the storm, but while it was still just rain, I started thinking about how the storm drains backed up last year and trapped us in the trailer park long before the floodwaters rose. In Hummelstown there would at least always be an available exit. So we packed up the necessities and made the trip to D's house (actually two trips). Which left me so wiped out I slept through most of the storm. There was apparently a heavy thump on the roof around 1 am, and I did wake up a few minutes later to hear A telling D that the back bedroom ceiling had started leaking, but I went right back to sleep immediately.
Everything is calm outside this morning. Radar shows that we are situated in the very tiny crescent of no storm activity with rain and winds all around. I suppose that in an hour or two, that little grey crescent will move northwest and the storm will engulf us again. But I'm glad that we have this lull anyway. And now, I guess I'm going to take another nap. This surgery recovery stuff is all about the naps.
