March Madness Update 1
The first upset of the season appears to be underway in Wilmington, and it is breaking my heart. Red Girl, my very first rescue, has 4 eggs in her nest. Yesterday, not one but 2 intruders appeared in Wilmington. It now appears that one of them is occupying one of Red Girl's favorite perches. After all the heartache 2 years ago, when her first mate died just before the eggs were due to hatch, and last year, when the rehab decided to reassign two of her chicks to a hacking location in W. Va., this nest should have been one of the feel-good stories this year. I do not feel good!
