Tuesday, I spent time looking for our gaming consoles and setting them up in the small entertainment system that Marie and Normand gave us. My main goal was the 360 so we'd have our DVD player back, and the Wii so that I could let it call me fat every morning. What's really great is that somehow, without paying particular attention to what I eat and without doing any real exercise other than MOVING, I have managed to stay out of the obese range! There was a time when I was always obese on Wii Fit.
Yesterday, I had my calc class where we talked about weird shit that I don't entirely like, then I met up with my Wednesday group. These are a group of people, mainly two others, that I met when I happened to be sitting at the same table as them one day and I made a comment about their conversation and suddenly found myself joined in. I think they were talking about racism in Québec, specifically against black folk, and I found that strange because there are lots of black people in Louisiana and I didn't see racism as so much of an issue there. I certainly wasn't aware of any racism on the part of anyone I associated with.
In any case, we started meeting every Wednesday and just chatting for about an hour before going our separate directions for class and whatnot. It's a nice little thing to do, though I doubt it will carry over to next semester. I'll have to get their cell numbers and start texting them. I added Jessica on facebook yesterday.
I didn't do too much in the apartment yesterday, though in the evening Barry and Diana came over to drop off more forgotten stuff. Barry also installed some shelves in the bathroom, which is great because we have one of those stupid stand-alone sinks and no counter space. Now it's not bad at all. They also brought donuts and muffins and we got to hang out and talk, which was really cool.
Mat and I tried out the new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii. It's awesome in how old-school it is, while having new neat features. I think I'd like to own it, but the price tag is a little too large at the moment.
I have also started replaying Zelda: Ocarina of Time because it's awesome and I haven't played it in years. Also, the "
Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'" video made me miss it. Also, I love this video. I shall sing her songs while I play. Maybe.
Bree is sitting on top of the sub-woofer under my desk, lightly pawing at my knee. I think I've got her trained to realize that I don't like her jumping on my leg, though last night she was literally sleeping on my knee while I did something on the computer. Or maybe I was doing calculus homework.
In dirty news, Mat and I christened the apartment. I wish I knew a better word for that, one that didn't contain "christ". Though I say Christmas. And I like Christmas. But really, what I like best is the bunch of pagan traditions surrounding it that that the Catholic church latched on to in order to convert people. The tree, the red and green, mistletoe. Though a lot of the carols have Jesusy stuff in. But they're pretty and everyone knows the words, so they're fun to sing.
It's my birthday this weekend. I will be 23, which is a weird age. But it's a prime number too!
