Am typing this in my Mumble flannel pjs whilst drinking red wine and slowly savouring the after-effects of Chinese food and Orlando in Season 2 of Extras.
Ring*Con was fabulous, as expected, and it was marvellous to meet up with friends old and new, and reaffirm the LOTR love. We even saw some of Fulda this year, and may or may not have shamelessly ogled and filmed one of the cameramen who stalked about the stage all weekend - and perhaps even spent far too much time carousing until the not-so-wee hours!
I am still reeling from two days in Oxford, flitting about from college to college, channelling Charles and Sebastian, and drinking to the memory of the Inklings in the
Eagle and Child. Am still damp from our visit to the Professor's grave, and still have chills from seeing with my very own eyes the
Bodleian Library,
Blackwell Books and experiencing Evensong (complete with 1000 years of Oxford history) in
Christ Church Cathedral. And I musn't forget Inspector Morse as well. I'm still in geek heaven.
Despite a very stressful train ride home to Doncaster, we recovered in time to spend today in Manchester, admiring art galleries, architecture, and an obscure little area called Canal Street, to which a Vince lookalike gave us directions (sadly no Stuart or Nathan made an appearance) and where we might have raised a toast or two.
And now it's time for more Extras with
trianne and
alchemilla, Rufus Wainwright tomorrow evening in Sheffield, and then the crushing disappointment of reality and returning home.
God only knows how I'll catch up or when my pictures will be uploaded, but I raise my glass to everyone here, because I missed
you all, and it seems from the odd poll or two I've just discovered that there may indeed be fic I've missed!
Oh happy day! More to come!
