What big eyes you have!
A friend and I went to see Red Riding Hood yesterday, because we are a two person Guilty Pleasures Movie Club (it was a toss up between that and Beastly and
Seriously, whoever wrote the script needed to be shot. I'm pretty sure that it was based off of a quasi-medieval Twilight AU by a thirteen-year-old Jacob/Bella shipper. And then got the script to Catherine Hardwicke, who grabbed every fog machine she could get her hands on to do it justice.
Except the Edward analogue is the only character I was on board with, what with the whole sympathizing with people and being annoyed with people who hit on his fiancee and deciding to help save his fiancee EVEN IF SHE WOULD THEN LEAVE HIM. The other guy, Peter, seemed much more conditional in his love.
Also, the bacchanalia with the medieval equivalent of grinding made this the terribly awful teen movie OF MY HEART.
Other than that, people either had to go on bed rest from getting scratched in the face or were bouncing around going werewolf hunting after getting shot through the chest. Medieval medicine is apparently very selective. Or maybe the fog was magical and it fixed them.
I will say though, that the movie was very pretty. They knew they weren't going for historical accuracy, so took advantage of using colors in a way I really liked.
