Bedrooms and Hallways

'Twas brillig...

I have just signed on to Netflix, probably the last person in the US to do so. My first movie was Bedrooms and Hallways, something I just haven't found to rent or buy around here. It's a British movie and not bad in the gay romantic comedy genre; Brit A list actors and some funny lines. All in all, not bad. I'm left wondering why it's never mentioned in anybody's lists, though people include most anything gay themed, no matter if it's of marginal quality. I think of course it's left out because the plot assumes the European point of view that sexuality is quite fluid. Love the person, the sex just follows? Or, love the sex and follow the person who wants to share it with you? The only characters who don't buy this theory are, well, Kinsey 6s (Tom Hollander in a very fun OTT part), the best girl friend, and one very frightened str8? men's group fellow. I thought it was enjoyable though a little unsettling (I had been hoping for a more traditional lovers' resolution) and wonder this: are the Americas just more honest about the immutable; or, are we more rigid in our characterizing or behind the times on this issue and, if so, why? Also, how is it that the critics who think about this stuff have never once mentioned it?

I had intended to post my zip code. Be warned.
