Delay due to Puddles

May 05, 2011 14:00

Laura here again. Still in North Dakota. The train is becoming later and later. We’re running about 4 hours behind schedule right now, which puts us at Glacier at midnight - with a 3 mile hike in front of us. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. At this point we’re hoping we’ll be even later, in the early morning, so that we can have a bit of day light to hike and set up camp by. I foresee our sleep schedule not returning to normal for a little while longer. We both did sleep the morning on the train, getting up a little before noon and grabbing some food in the dining car after stretching our legs in Minot, ND for a minute during a stop. We’re now in the observation car, looking at cows, brown fields, lots of puddles and remnants of snow(!!!). It had recently rained in Fargo when we got there, but here in the west of North Dakota it is beautiful and sunny, and felt like about 60 when we stepped off the train in Minot (rhymes with Why Not).

Adventure awaits us tonight, says my sixth sense. Right now just more brown fields, though…
