First Real Update From The Dam
So I have been kinda wanting to write in this thing for awhile, but I have been lazy about it. Somehow I finally got inspired the extra bit it took to actually write something. I don't think I'll start at the beginning though, that would just tire me out and I would end up quitting midway through so I'll just start wherever and end wherever...
I inadvertently found a shortcut to class today. I was walking to Dutch class and looking up how to say "How's it going?" because I couldn't remember and while not paying attention decided to take a right turn long before I usually do. Ended up being a lot shorter and a nice walk past the zoo, the aquarium and the planetarium. Could they really have put me in a more personalized location in the city? So went to Dutch, it was fun as usual, but I don't feel like I am learning anything. I have finally gotten pretty good at Spanish now so I am thinking it was a very poor decision of mine to go to the Netherlands as opposed to Spain. Spanish doesn't really help me here, and Dutch won't really help me in life. Oh well. I took the same shortcut back home and this woman was trying to fold up her stroller and called me over to help. I told her that I don't speak Dutch and she was frustrated (turns out the other woman she had called over to help her also didn't speak Dutch). But I tried to help anyway. The woman was like "ugh, none of you are mothers!" lol Which was amusing. I finally figured it out though and went on with my walk home. Which brings me basically to where I am now. I really wanted to call my Mom and then I was about to dial her number and I realized I didn't remember what I wanted to say. I am going to Brussels tomorrow if all goes according to plan. I need to find my way to the bus station directly after my museum excursion though, so wish me luck.
Last night was really fun! Even though I got tired and went home kinda early I felt home for a little bit. We went to this little club down the street: Desmet, where apparently every Wed. they have live music performances. You were supposed to be on a list, but the bouncer told us he was in "a good mood" and let us in anyway. Ok enough for now...
