I really need to get off this planet. *sighs* Asgard seems nice this time of year, especially around Samhain.
This has been one of those weeks where I swear I'm slowly losing my frickin' mind. Oddly enough, this has nothing to do with the cougar next door and her young piece and dog.
Monday evening, I'm just about to tell the ol' man that I was going to send out a few emails to my former Brownie families (since my Unit has been closed to not having a second Guider) and then immerse myself into a Loki marathon (all #Avengers movies and rewatch #Loki on Disney+), when I receive a call from the Hospital's Emerge Dept., informing that Mum fell getting into the elevator at the other hospital while leaving her appointment - which happened at 16:35 and the call came in (at home) at 21:30. *facepalm* So I arrive there because she (Mum) didn't want her purse left with security and she wanted me to pay some of her bills during her hospital stay.
I arrive at Emerge, answered the Covid-19 screen questions, got chewed out by a nurse that my mask was a blue and white non-surgical mask, but made her (the nurse) feel 3 apples high when I explained to her I have an allergy to latex and my mask was fine (plus showed her the scars on my right cheek due to these so-call non-surgical masks) and that even tough I'm her daughter, I should a make my Dad be here instead. to which my response to her was, "Even IF that were possible, my parents were legally separated and yeah.... Also, Dad's been dead for 8 years and is off buried at sea. So yeah, good luck with trying to reanimate a pile of ash. After that, headed inside triage only to be told that they couldn't find my mother (even though she was brought in my ambulance from the other hospital). After 25 minutes had passed, the snot-nose nurse (the one that balled me out) came and said, "Oh, we found your mother, follow me please." headed off to see how she was making out. Once in her cubical, she told me what had happened. Talk about a freak accident. Well, the ER doc came in (after Mum had been given meds for the pain), explained that the surgery would either be Tuesday or today (it was done Tuesday around noon). So yeah....
I was able to speak with her today and she said she might be in there for at least a week, two at the most this way the hospital can arrange home care, since I'm in no way to help her everyday due to my own family, but it doesn't mean I won't help out (I will, but it's gonna be after DH gets home from work).
After I received the initial call from the Hop, I looked up broken hips and seniors and what I read (from multiple sources, not just "Dr. Google") is very bleak. I've always wondered why seniors who break a limb die within the first year. Hmmm....Mum's only 71....hmmmm...
Anywhoo.... I'm starting to wonder if I should jump the planet.
