The past 24 hours have been somewhat par for the course. I received a call from the nursing home looking for Mum because Nan has been taken to the hospital. Not to sound cold, but every December/January Nan would get sick having OCPD so this is nothing new, except this time she isn't sick from her OCPD.
Like I mentioned the home had been trying to contact Mum (who had her landline disconnected because she didn't want to receive calls from the nursing home claiming they call her for every little detail), so they called me and again early this morning. Apparently, Nan has an infection on one of her legs and she's taken a bad reaction to the antibiotic and since the second antibiotic hasn't been working as planned she's now in the hospital as well as being delusional.
Well, when the nurse called I had to change my plans this morning and boot it down to Mum's and when I got there I told her off as well informing that it's unacceptable for disconnecting her line and that I nearly had to contact the cops to go down to her place - this is her mother, not mine. I also informed her that I called my 2 of my aunts one here and the other in BC - my aunt in Alberta seems to think that she's too good to talk to me .....whatever.... anywhoo... Mum called the aunt here and started to get ready to go the hospital. I also told her I spoke to the aunt in BC that she (Mum) told the nurse that the hospital was the best thing for Nan.
Shortly after putting Bilbo to bed, another nurse from the nursing home called, I gave her Mum's cell number. Then I get a call from Mum (thinking I'm going to be ragged out for giving her number) and was informed that the doc has said that the next 24 hours are going to be the most critical, so I again called the aunt in BC to inform her about Nan's condition.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem calling my aunt, but I really wish my mother wasn't so damn immature and suck up her attitude when it comes to speaking to "her" family.
