A great day for the Wesman!
Ok, so last week was rather annoying for me. On Saturday I lost my debit card and then this Friday I lost my cell phone. FUCK, WHY CAN'T I HOLD ON TO ANYTHING?! However, everything comes around. I got my new debit card today in the mail and while changing a light bulb, one of my tenants says in broken English "did you lose a cell phone?" I literally hugged the man! Then I apologized for making him listen to the "Final Countdown" over and over again. Apparently it fell out of my pocket on the street.
Then, to top off a great day, my Peace Corps recruiter called to tell me that I have been officially nominated for duty in the Peace Corps! However, the broad assignment I've been nominated for (HIV/AIDS Prevention/Education in East to South Africa)doesn't start till May '07. THis is a little far in the future for me, but that job and area is exactly where and what I want to do. It will be a "high mortality and grief job in a rural area." This is the possibly the toughest assignment in the Peace Corps and she said I was "extremely qualified" to handle it. I know she's right... She also said that if I get medical clearance soon and am ready to go, the placement office maybe offer me a job that leaves sooner than May. I don't have to settle because if I turn down an earlier assignment, I'm still nominated for the May Africa one. So, yeah, I'm happy to be progressing in my dream...
What a good day! Oh, and nobody die soon, because that would just suck!
