The celebrations we embrace

Rachel had never celebrated any holiday before. The winter season had simply been a harsher world to survive, even in the camps. No one had hope there, and therefor nothing to celebrate. This year the air had begun to tingle as winter set in. This year, in the past, among a younger set of her family, Rachel had seen faces light up and smiles coming more easily...

...and the mansion had been decorated. In glitter and garland, in snow and lights. It had felt like magic. The very idea, the thoughts, of Christmas were nearly intoxicating. She was laughing and dancing for days prior, and the day of was enough to make her giggle.

That was why she ended up in the hotel, tinsel tangled in her hair as she floated near the ceiling draping garland. She'd found several large boxes of decorations up in the attics when she came in and she just thought it'd be nice to share.
