He went through every book that he could find in his apartment trying to figure out a way to keep them from killing her. Of course, just going on that idea alone left many possibilities ( Read more... )

"Morning," Cordelia said cheerfully as she looked up at him from her desk. "Gunn made the coffee so maybe it won't taste like crap today." She grinned at him.

He laughed a tad when she said that. "Then I know I'll have to sample some if it then," he said, going over and making himself a cup. After taking a taste and deciding that it wasn't that bad, he looked back over at her. "So, anything happen here yet?"

"Nope. All's been quiet. Still no word from Angel." She picked up an envelope and held it up. "Power bill's due. Not as bad as last month, but not great, either."

He took the envelope and looked it over. "Certainly better than last month." Not running the air had actually helped. Thank heavens, considering how hot it had been in here. Wouldn't want all that suffering to be for nothing. "We need to get something soon," he said, more to himself than anything.

"Get something soon?" she echoed, glancing up at him with furrowed eyebrows.

He looked up. He hadn't actually realized that he had said that out loud. "I meant a case. We need to get one soon." One that pays at any rate. He really was starting to sound a lot like Cordelia.

She sighed softly, nodding in agreement and looking at the phone. "Or we'll have to start working out of my apartment again. And no offense, but I don't think it's big for all of us. We seem to keep growing." She glanced toward the stairs. "Of course, it's not like we ever actually see Fred."

"That would mean that Fred would have to stay with one of us, though," he said. Not that her technically staying here by herself was a good thing, either. Of course, with Gunn always here, she wasn't really by herself. "We could also all move here, too."

Cordelia turned her head to look at him in alarm. "No. No, we can't move in here." She shook her head. "Well, you can. I can't."

"Does the thought of living here scare you that much?" Wesley asked.

"Well, besides the fact I don't want to leave Dennis...there's that whole other problem that's going on." She lowered her voice even though they appeared to be the only ones around.

He nodded when she referred to her 'other problem.' "I see," he said. "So, you will at least have to keep your own apartment." However, it would be a good way to save money if he moved in here. He just wasn't sure if he was ready to take that step, yet.

"You think you'd really want to move in here?" she asked curiously.

Wesley shrugged. "I don't know. It's something to think about, at least."
