TWENTY-FIVE

Nov 09, 2007 13:45

Okay, I'm glad I was sitting down when I heard this. It's been twenty-five years since Michael Jackson's Thriller. Then again, that means it's only been twenty-five years since the first black artist broke through to MTV.

Unfortunately, I was standing up when I got this news a week ago: Sean and I are going to be hosting this year's family Thanksgiving dinner - and we're to expect at least twenty-five people. Yeah - Thanksgiving dinner for twenty-five. Maybe twenty-eight. Or thirty. *gulp*

We've already started cooking and freezing. The Brussels sprouts are done, the sweet potato-parsnip puree is done, the creamed leeks with chestnuts are done, the corn is happening today, the turkeys and hams have been bought, we've got the ingredients for the mulled cider and the cornbread-apple-sausage stuffing and the cranberry sauce and the pumpkin cheesecake and the bread pudding. The only problem is going to be reheating stuff and keeping it warm. Oh - and the fact that we only own eight chairs. And two of them are enormous office chairs.
