Forest talking

The forest I am digging into starts 'haunting my dreams', literally. This morning (noon, actually) I woke with the feeling of words being said close to me in a deep and passionate voice ( Read more... )

That's weird - I always thought that they say 'It could not hold the earth any more'.

Yes, sounds weird, but I have just learned that withstanding high winds is one of the wonders of tree mechanics. Imagine say, a pine, its crown - a huge sail. They are only 'wind-trained' by standing alone from the start, but if you cut down a pine forest leaving just several mature pines to stand alone, they won't stand long.

Overall a forest is a bunch of wonders - chemical, mechanical, genetic, ecological etc.

And there is a reference to 'being (un)able to hold one's beer' - I guess my inner metaphor-generator thinks, pines drink their sky like wine :)
