[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: George Sands
FANDOM: Being Human (BBC television series)
CHRONOLOGY: Post Season-1

BACKGROUND:
The start of George’s story begins when his friend from America came to visit him. They ended up taking a hike in the glorious wilderness of Scotland. As circumstances would have it, there was a werewolf out there, which led George’s friend to his unfortunate demise-by-mauling. George on the other hand, managed to survive, though still severely wounded from deep clawed-out gashes in his shoulder. Despite being saved, he maintained a scar from the attack in addition to, you know, turning into a half-wolf during the full moon.

George found himself horrified and disgusted by his condition. Without anyone to provide him with an explanation, he had to endure the disability on his own. He attempted to hide it as best as he could, and go about leading a “normal” life. He got a job, an apartment, and continued carrying about an ordinary life, doing his best to stay unnoticed. For the most part, he was successful.

However, one evening, whilst working at a local diner, circumstances drastically changed. A pack of vampires happened to stroll on in. Given that vampires have the keen ability to sense other supernatural creatures, they instantly recognized him as a lycan. The series maintains the classic lore that there is an unsaid war between werewolves and vampires. Though it seems more one sided in this case: the vampires hate the werewolves in a sort of discriminatory/racist way almost. Seeing as that they want to be the dominant class of the world, the werewolves are nothing more than an obstacle. Thus, the encounter quickly turned ugly. The pack followed him outside when he took out the trash and began brutally beating him up, with goals to most likely kill him. Fortunately for him, somebody intervened: John Mitchell.

Mitchell at the time, was one of the most merciless and deadly vampires in the area. He saw the situation as a conflict in continuity. Since one of the vampires introduced themselves to a member of the staff at the diner, there would be obvious suspicions connecting to George’s potential death. The pack went back inside the diner, leaving Mitchell to finish George off. George on the other hand, was completely confused, up until this point unaware of both vampires and their abilities to sense werewolves. Additionally, he was oblivious to the bitter relations between the two, as he tearfully asked Mitchell why he was going to kill him. Mitchell ended up telling him to run away and leave the city, or he wouldn’t only be noticed again and most likely killed eventually. George demands to know why, asking if he’s supposed to continue running forever and never lead a normal life. During his tangent, something clicks with Mitchell and from that point forward the become friends. Yes. That quickly. WHO KNOWS.

Soon, Mitchell and George move in together in an apartment which happens to be inhabited by a ghost, Annie. She joins in on their little posse, and they become one big happy family. Not really. AS IS THE COURSE OF BBC TV… drama soon occurred.

George ends up working with Mitchell as porters at the hospital. There, he meets Nina. At first, as a senior employee, she takes advantage of George’s meek and humble attitude, constantly bossing him around. Once again, circumstances change, and they end up dating (SEE THE NEXT PARAGRAPH FOR MORE INFO). He does his best to hide his abilities from her, entirely ashamed and afraid of hurting her. While she on the other hand, is much more open with him and does her best to ease him out of his secrecy. It isn’t until the end of the season that she discovers he is a werewolf.

George also meets his initial attacker, Tully at one point. Tully had been working on finding him for years on end and finally approached him. While the interaction was awkward at first, he began mentoring George, instructing him on how to cope with his inner-beast to be more confident. This is actually how he eventually pulled himself into a relationship with Nina. At first, George takes his instructions to heart but sadly, the friendship was too good to be true and Tully was actually a crazy douchebag who much more easily embraces his transformation. The two of them transform together at one point, and George fights him off, not killing him, but banging him up enough to scare him away from ever bothering again (I’m sure season 2 will beg to differ).

At the end of the season, the head vampire guy or whatever of the city, William Herrick begins going to extremes to bring down Mitchell and his entire life… uh, undead life. George ends up taking this to heart. Herrick continuously taunts him, telling him there’s nothing he can do about it, given that he’s too much of a coward to ever fight back. He follows George to the shed where he always transforms (so as not to hurt anyone else) and plans on attacking him. Instead, George finally manages to control his abilities, saying that they only made him more human because he was killing Herrick out of love for his friends. So he does. Kill him. Yup. Bye Herrick. HOWEVER, during his transformation, Nina falls upon the scene and attempts to stop him. George, mid-transformation smacks her to the side (at that point, still unable to control his ability), scratching her. By doing this, he doesn’t realize (as one of the final scenes imply), that he “infected” her as well.

Additionally, George is Jewish and uses his Star of David necklace to repel vampires. Yes. Apparently that’s what does it. Not crosses. This doesn’t however, work with Mitchell given he has affection for him and apparently that makes it ineffective? Idk. It was only briefly described.

AND SO THAT IS THE END OF THE SEASON. THERE WILL BE A SEASON 2 THIS (FALL? WINTER?).

PERSONALITY:

George is an extreeeeeeeeeeeeeemely socially awkward person. He often stumbles on his words, talks too quietly, or is a general derp. At the same time, he’s extraordinarily intelligent with an IQ of 156. He learns easily, and can speak five languages in addition to English: French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Croatian. Nevertheless, all the academic learning doesn’t seem to help him with his self-confidence or social skills. Let alone, many times he seems naïve, stupid, and genuinely derpy because of his social handicap. The whole werewolf-thing doesn’t help much. In fact, a person like him having the ability to turn into a raging, foaming beast is somewhat of an oxymoron in itself. Nevertheless, he cherishes his humanity, and wishes for nothing more than to be human.

He’s not very good at defending himself, and gets frightened easily. Still, he always gathers up the courage to stand up for those he cares about the most, protecting them with his life if need be. This doesn’t omit the fact that he might act like a bumbling, sniveling, screaming WHILE coming to the rescue.

Part of the reason George easily back out of social situations (as was the case with Nina at first) is because he is always concerned about hurting them. Before the final episode, he had little no control over his abilities when he turned into a wolf. While transformed, glimpse of another person would set off his bloodthirsty cravings. This is the main reason he locks himself in a shed in the middle of the woods on the full moon. George is anything but a killer. He would rather kill himself than hurt another human being (or anybody for that matter), always afraid of losing his humanity. This is one of the reasons he doesn’t kill Tully. At the end of the season however, he discovers that there are some cases where getting rid of the problem is the only solution. All this time, he’d been avoiding his animalistic side, when in the end he realized that loving others, and protecting them because of love was one of the most human characteristics of all.

While he seems to be able to control his ability at the end of the season, it is clear that this was a very special circumstance and it will take a much longer time to completely have control over it.
CLASS: Hero
SUPERHERO NAME: George, rofl.
ALTER EGO: George Sands
POWER: WEREWALF!!! He can turn into a wolf-human hybrid. Kind of like the classic “Wolf Man” hybrid. This only happens during a full moon. Otherwise he’s just your average ordinary measly human. Also enhanced senses a few days before the full moon.

First Person Sample:
[quietly, in a somewhat high-pitched tone]

Uh… h-hello? Helloooo-- Anybody in there? I mean there. I mean… is this thing on? What does it even do? Am I supposed to be doing this with… this. What am I saying. Oh God. Uh…

[clears his throat a little]

I… I really have no idea where I am and I’d really really appreciate it if somebody could explain to me what’s going on. I mean, I heard the whole “hero” and all that but I’m not a hero. I’m not who you seem to think I am. I swear. I was under the impression that heroes were people who wore capes and flew around and had laser eyes and… and weren’t me. So, would you mind telling me which way to Bristol? By the way the lot of you sound, no offense meant you all sound very intelligent it’s just the dialect-- it doesn’t sound like I’m anywhere near there… or the UK at all for that matter. Ohgod. This is all a mess. I’m so sorry, I really have no idea what I’m even saying or asking, but I’m hoping you get the general idea.

Uh… my name’s George, and I’m not from around here, as you can probably guess. This is all a mistake, and I get it, I totally do. Mistakes happen you know? So, let’s just call it all a good laugh and uh… send me home? That thing I came in on isn’t even... I’m not one to label the strange but I’m pretty sure that isn’t even close to anything know of that’s been developed. What is this?

Third Person Sample:

(going to just gank this from my log on the comm)

After Abigail dropped him off, George found himself running into the forest. His legs pumped, breathing staggered, and he didn’t stop until he couldn’t hear the sound of passing cars, smoke stacks, babbling, or any other remote sign of typical humanity. Just the wilderness. Unfortunately, a shed was lacking. If he could manage to stay far enough out here though, maybe he’d manage. At least this time around. Next time… well. Next time he’d be better prepared.

He’d only just arrived in the city, and already the darkness had fallen. Not the romantic sort where you stand outside and look up at the stars with your lover. There was nothing remotely passionate or sentimental about this sort of darkness at all. In fact, it could be described more of a putrid black abyss. At least, that was how George Sands saw it. Amidst the never-ending blanket of night however, shined the most sickening feature of all: the moon. Perfectly circular, pearly, and gleaming with light. To most it would seem heavenly. To George, it was a daunting omen of ugliness. Also known as his favorite time of the month.

The City was huge, and it was difficult to find a place where one could get complete privacy. Not only did he wish to stay completely hidden from the world at this time, but he also wanted the world to hide itself from him. The slightest sound of bodily movement would set his instincts off. At one point, he wouldn’t have even referred to his beast as any part of him. Up until recently, he saw it as somebody completely separate. While he did admit to his unnatural flaw now, he wasn’t about to claim he had complete control over it. He literally transformed into a monster. Something so incomprehensibly bloodthirsty and merciless it was beyond human comprehension. Once again, there was a time he would have denied this as well. However, now he’d come to terms with it: he wasn’t like everybody else. This wasn’t just some “thing,” nor a completely separate entity. It was part of him.

The first sensation of the change was always the worst part. It was like receiving a vaccination: the initial poke is the worst part, and then it’s all over. The only difference was that it didn’t end there. His heart stopped, and he was left breathless as it began shrinking, shifting, and twisting around to a smaller size and different internal location. Then, it began beating once more, faster even, so that the rest of the transformation could properly proceed. He began screaming wildly, as his spinal cord jerked upward, forming an arc. The bone pressed up mercilessly against his skin before that too began changing: coarse, rough, and covered with fur. The screaming transformed into a blood-curdling roar.

Everything in his body, every God-given merit and flaw he’d received upon birth was now changing, and it wasn’t just the physicality either. No, his sense of morale and self control began vanishing as well. No matter how hard he thought and tried to contain it, sensibility and reason began drifting away. The last time this happened, he’d killed somebody. While he had no regrets for that specific instance, he didn’t plan on doing it again. He didn’t want to lose his humanity; he only wished to tame the raging beast. His final drifting thoughts were of those he cared about most: Annie, Mitchell, and Nina. The three of them were what inspired him to never forget his true identity and why he would never stop trying to contain the hunger. Without them, he was slowly beginning to feel more and more lost in this place. It was as if he was starting over entirely. Was he really that dependent?

Soon however, even the thoughts of those he was so very compassionate about disappeared. Only the monster remained. It was him, it would always be him and he was done denying that. But it didn’t mean he wasn’t going to spare others of experiencing it.

The morning would come soon enough.
