Hello blog, long time no see!
A series of job and family related matters kept me away from the internet for a while, but things are finally getting back to normal.
In the meantime, Team Wererabbit (a.k.a. my mother and I) joined the inspiring
Blythe Runway Challenge on Flickr.
Each month 25 creative Blythe people will be assigned a new fashion challenge to complete and submit to a panel of judges.
The February challenge involved redesigning a stock Takara outfit. It was a really clever theme for a first challenge, and a lot of fun to work on and to follow on Flickr as contestants progressed to the finished outfits.
Everybody did a great job! You can see a recap of the February entries
here.
I chose Fruit Punch as my guinea pig.
After all these years, she's still one of my favorite Takara Blythes. I love her Twiggiesque short bright hair - and I loved her concept too, in sketch, but the actual outfit didn't live up to expectations.
Poor FruPu, she really didn't deserve those ugly blue polyester pants!
I wanted her new design to have a fresh, summery feel and a retro late 60s/early 70s vibe.
We gave her two outfits, like stock Fruit Punch had - a trouser suit and a cocktail dress.
Here are some photos of the finished clothes:
