All of those games sound great to me, but if I had to choose... I've had a real hankering to play the WoD system; if it's you running WoD, it's gotta be Werewolf.
And I also think I know what Tom votes for: His Corax dude.
Assuming someone runs one of the games we occasionally play on Sundays, I am in 5 games a week now. But I can do more!
Werewolf is my vote, whether or not we allow different breed books and I get to be a Corax. Although I do have that Ars character kicking around somewhere. I might change his focus a bit though.
Regardless, lemme know when, what, and how as I'm pretty sure I'll be able to hunt you down and bother you if you play without me.
Okay. Question two. What sort of game would you like. I'm leaning more towards a modern Werewolf game. Are you guys interested in a road story, a different town each time, or a more rooted story, centered around a home base?
Also, what sort of character concepts are you guys interested in?
Hmm, good question. If it's not going to be a regular thing that road game might be a really good idea. It'd keep it simple and in episodic chunks rather than weaving a tapestry that we have to keep track of. But that doesn't necessarily have to be on the road, either, that'd just be a good setting for that kind of campaign.
Let's see if I can nail down a concept I'd like to play. Looking at the Breed/Auspice list on the wiki, I'm thinking about "Old Sven" or maybe an absentminded Theurge who likes his "spiritual aides" a little too much. I dunno, I'm bad at this part. :P
OH SHIT! I can't believe I almost forgot about Junkyard! I've been hoping you'd run another WW game so I could play this guy.
Junkyard, a Lupus, grew up in human captivity and was exhaustively "groomed" to be the most intimidating junkyard dog around. As he neared adulthood he was entered into dogfights and was beginning to make a name for himself when the change struck. He ran and never came back.
From the character sheet, Appearance:In Lupus form, Junkyard
( ... )
I too have a Bonegnawer concept, though mine is a Galliard/Ragabash who is, as I've told you, based on the Fisher King. However unless everybody's common/Bonegnawer types and knowing that someone beat me to it, I'm inclined to play something else.
(Side note: I totally have a pdf of exactly the book in your bedroom, Brent, so if needed we can ensure everybody's using the same source)
Naturally, I'm drawn to the Fianna and Galliards, or if I'm feeling cheeky the Shadow Lords, but I've got a few of those types in other games. Similarly I have a dumb brute in a game I'm playing tonight. What I don't have is a paladin or a french character, so I'm thinking I'd like to do a Silver Fang and either a Philodox or Ragabash depending on what I come up with for a backstory.
Of course, that assumes you're not opening up the other breed books in which case, yes, I would enjoy being a wereraven.
It just occurred to me if I go for that concept I'll likely end up as a contender for party leader in yet another game and I'm kinda getting my fill of that. (why is Thaddeus still alive?) I'll have to compare my desire to have responsibility verses roles I like to play debate in my head, and I'll get back to you with results.
I'm forgetting how the Werebears work, but a character could conceivably be from any time period since North American colonization without much trickery, right? Just that they fell asleep at some point, and forgot to wake up until now?
I'm not sure exactly what that timeline was anymore, but yeah. I know the bear I rolled up had just woken up from a looong sleep.
I looked up the Rip Van WInkle Merit I took with him (page 89 of the Gurahl book), and that specifically says you can be from the Middle Ages. I think bears could have been sleeping since the war of freakin' Rage, possibly. Certainly powerful NPCs.
There were Gurahl in North America from the start, I think. With the Wendigo and Uktena. Some are polar bears, after all. But I wouldn't bet my life on it. Flipping through the book quickly I'm not seeing a clearcut statement.
