His Majesty's Dragon, by Naomi Novik. Spent way too much time reading it, cuz it's just That Much Fun. Napoleonic Wars -- with dragons!

(And I suddenly want to see a crossover with Sharpe's.) (Though not nearly as much as I want to read the next book in the series.)
