Death Note... check. Headache... check.

I finally finished reading Death Note. I won't spoil it, but I'll say it ended exactly as it should have.

I'm no feminist, but WOW what was up with all the female sheep in that manga? Major female roles represented all of three categories: 1) emotional and mindless, 2) calculating and prideful, and 3) there for no reason but to be "feminine."

You can figure out who goes in which category by yourself. My head needs to be horizontal quite soon. And how appropriate is this song! I knew my angst playlist would come in handy...

Edit: After rereading my post and following comments, I thought I should address the fact that I seemed disappointed in the ending of Death Note. The fact is, I think the storyline maintained a high quality throughout the manga... though whether or not I liked WHERE the story was going was anther matter. There really WAS only one way to end a story like this, and Ohba-sensei did an amazing job of carrying the story along to this ending... though there WAS understandable degradation in the details towards the end. I decided a long time ago that I could not be fully satisfied with the end of Death Note, and I was right. Still, Death Note will remain one of the highest quality stories I have ever read and I am rather disappointed that as a manga it does not get an equal amount of respect as it might have as a hard work of literature. Basically, I wish fangirls would get over it.
