So is it a good sign that when I feel depressed my rate of job application increases? Apparently somewhere between 1.7% and 3.6% of the jobs advertised on Monster are filled though Monster (and Monster has the highest percentages of the lot). http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=580853
I guess I knew logically that job boards were a long shot and that a large percentage of jobs were filled by personal references, but it’s still something like catching a sucker punch unprepared to see the figures.
Five applications later (avoiding job boards) I’m feeling a little better. It’s sunny here, the mountains are snowcapped and photogenic, and the temperature is 45 F, the warmest it has been in weeks. I think it’s time for a destination-less bike ride.
Also, my apple pie turned out fairly well last night. My next pie will have some tapioca in with the apples to thicken things up a bit. I ought to figure out a photo hosting service so I can show off my pie picture.
