The Democratic Congressional Transformer

Nov 09, 2006 14:47

bzzzzt, bzzzt, bzzzt....that's the sound of two branches of the government turning into a giant Democratic Congressional Transformer. Yes, friends and neighbors, George "Macaca" Allen has officially conceded this morning and the Senate now holds a Democrat majority. I better start hearing about subpoenas in January (somebody let loose John Conyers on the executive branch already).

In lieu of the news that Rumsfeld resigned yesterday, I decided to check out who exactly is this Bob Gates guy that Bush has nominated for the next Secretary of Defense. Eesh...he was involved in the Iran-Contra Affair in the 1980s. If you're interested in learning more about Bob Gates and what his nomination means now, check out my favorite daily show in independent media: Democracy Now with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. Democracy Now broadcasts nationally on radio stations like NPR and some college radio stations every morning at 9am East Coast time. However, it is available on the internet after it broadcasts. Either you can watch the show via RealPlayer or download the audio in mp3 format. I have a feeling pinball and punky might enjoy this site.

On another note, is anyone watching the new season of America's Top Model besides me?
