So I got back from orientation yesterday and it was a whole lot of fun. Seriously it was like a miniature summer camp with a little bit of info about classes and advising yada yada thrown in. Our hall was called the Cielo Psycho Sock Puppets (Cielo being the hall name and the Psycho Sock Puppets part being our mascot) and we represented for our hall by making sock puppets. It was pretty swank. And all of our staffers were really cool too. You'd be suprised at how much bonding and stuff you can do in two and a half days with everbody. On Saturday night there was a really funny/entertaining talent show that all the staffers put on that was really cool and then there was a dance outside in the social science plaza, which is really cool because who'd think that there would ever be a dance there. I expect to walk through that plaza a gazzillion times in my career especially since my major is in the department of Social Sciences (yeah polisci!) and it'll be just cool to know that at one time you were at a hoppin' dance there. I like dancing and stuff even though I think I am really bad at it..errrr....I know I am really bad at it. But then again most people don't really know how to dance and no one really cares because you're just all having fun anyway.
Then after the dance and accoding to SPOP (student parent orientation program) tradition we stayed up the whole night and watched the "sunrise" from the Mesa Parking Structure. So then I got a few hours of sleep and then we hung out and had more special bonding time and then I left for my 5 1/2 hour drive home. I kinda thought that everyone there would be mostly socal people but I'd say that about half the people I met were from Nnorcal. So it's prolly not a good thing to have gotten 6 hours of sleep in 60 hours and then drive home 350 miles. But hey I made it!
So I am really ready to start college. Well there are still some things I need to get and stuff but really I wish it would start already. I got to see more of the campus than I had seen before too, and it really is pretty. It'll be almost two months until we actually get to start school and it just seems like a really long time especially after meeting people and having a good time and all that. I'll miss all my homies from home too(except for my fellow Anteater Chris)! it'll be sad but happy at the same time.
I still don't know what my schedule will look like because you sign up online and my enrollment window isn't until August 12th. The advisor said that we should take it easy first quarter because of all the adjusting and stuff which I think is prolly a good idea but I also wanna kinda hit the ground running ya know? But maybe I don't need to. Apparently there are too many freshmen who screw up their gpas because they try to do too much at the beginning of their freshmen year and it messes them up for the rest of college, or at least makes things a lot harder. Even if I only take the 13 units instead of 17 I'll still have sophomore status after the first quarter because of AP credits. We'll just have to see.
Congratulations for reading all of that.
