Euroverview of Paris

Nov 23, 2010 23:55

Yeah, me and morgainlefay left the country to hang out with her sis, who is currently living over there at the moment. I had a passport, I had a few days vacation, and I hadn't ever left the country. THE TIME WAS RIPE.

4 days in Paris, we managed to hit up:
-The Catacombs (awesome awesome, except you totally get immune to the thousands of skulls and bones after a while)
-Père Lachaise Cemetery
-the Eiffel Tower
-Trocadero
-Arc de Triomphe
-Notre Dame
-the Louvre
-the Bastille
-Centre du Pompidou
-the Marais
-the Latin Quarter
-St. Ouen flea market
-Sacré Couer
-Montmartre
-the red light district (i.e. Pigalle)
-a bunch of bars, jazz clubs, and a vintage thrift store or two
-Pierre Hermé and Lauduree (where we bought a bunch of macarons and had an epic MACARON BATTLE).

Things I learned:
-internet memes are the same over there--at least, OVER 9000 seems to be alive and kicking
-there is no 1 euro bill
-there is a secret law that states that every block in Paris must have a minimum of 3 pastry and bakery shops
-you accessorize with a scarf around your neck, and a baguette in your backpack/purse/mouth
-there is no parkour! (at least the one dude I talked to had never heard of it, so it could be a fluke)
-Americans belief that everyone over there hates Americans is pretty unfounded (I kept apologizing, and everyone kept asking why)

ALSO HERE IS MY HALLOWEEN COSTUME FOR NEXT YEAR (thanks to the Louvre and its numerous paintings of saints):

Okay, I'll get around to commenting on people's entries from the past week now!
