A/N: OMG I'M WRITING A FIC. DOES THAT NOT MAKE ME INSANE. There're gonna be tons of error in this one.
Cautiously, Chisato pulled on the roller skate. Her foot got stucked halfway. She tugged a little more forcefully, and the skate went through with a sudden thud. Surprised, she jerked bakwards on the bench and landed on the grass.
"Ow!" Chisato complained as she rubbed her head. "This is gonna suck." She couldn't believed she got sweet-talked into doing this. Besides, she wasn't in the best mood to be outdoors; the grass stinks. She pushed herself up in disgust.
"You're such a klutz, Chisato," Mai said, one hand on her hip, tapping her already roller-skated foot on the ground, impatient; she didn't even wobble. "Can you hurry up? You're taking a century to put on those."
Chisato made a face at Mai before she sat up on the grass and reached forward to wiggle another foot in the roller blade. After five minutes, she tried to stand up; she failed.
"Here, here." Mai reached over and pulled Chisato up, and as Chisato threatened to fall again, she gripped Chisato tightly on the arms.
"Relax. You want to look cool on TV, no?" Mai said, sliding her fingers into Chisato's hands, and started gliding down the path, towing Chisato in her wake. Chisato wobbled and slipped, but kept on her feet. Before long, she could move a little without Mai's support.
"Look! I'm doing it! Yay!" Chisato cheered happily as she nudged forward, a little more confidently now; she wasn't falling over much now. Mai gave her a thumbs-up of approval, but suddenly her smile turned into an expression of shock.
Chisato didn't see that, nor did she notice the slope in front of her.
"Wait! Chisato!" Mai yelled, but it was too late; Chisato crossed over, but still she did not noticed the terror she was going to face. She turned and gave Mai a questioning look, but kept going, unaware of the increasing rate of speed she was going.
The slope was gentle at first, but it was not before long that Chisato gaining speed more and more, and then she finally noticed, how everything was swooshing past her, and her nerves started to act up.
"OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!" Chisato screamed, her arms flailing in the air. It was amazing that she still could keep on her feet, but she couldn't stop. The only to do so was to fall.
"TO THE GRASS CHISA, TO THE GRASSSSS!!!!!! LEFT LEFT!" Mai yelled, but Chisato didn't hear her. Onlookers gaped at her and other fellow skaters shunned to one side, allowing Chisato to doom herself at the end of the slope.
Except one.
Chisato saw him, and watched in horror as he opened his arms, supposedly to catch her. "ARE YOU FUCKING CRA-!"
Before Chisato could finish, she slammed into him with as much force as a elephant doing a dive. She heard the boy let out a gush of air, and both of them fell.
Chisato was stunned at first; she's alive! Then she remembered the boy, and looked quickly up at him; the boy who saved him.
She had killed him.
"Oh no oh no, are you all right?!" Chisato cried, as the crowd began to gather and murmured among themselves. The boy's friend swooped down and shook him. "Keito? Keito?"
Mai had already taken off her skates and was running full speed down the hill, screaming, "CHISATO!!!" But Chisato was horrified by the sight of the boy on the floor. Keito? Oh my God, what had she done?
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," she said, as she shook him. "Wake up! Please!"
The boy's eyes fluttered open, and a groan escaped him. Chisato realised she was still on top of him, and scrambled out of the way. However, her skates accidentally hit his knee, and he moaned in pain again.
"Oh no, I'm so so so so sorry," Chisato said, her guilt thick on her. She looked at his friend; a little guy with a face like a girl. "I am so sorry!"
The friend shook his head, and helped the boy up. His eyes were closed, and was in obvious pain. Chisato felt like killing herself.
"I'm so sorry," she said softly now, as Mai joined her at her side, worrying about any injuries and apologising too to the friend.
The boy's eyes opened once again, but this time he looked at Chisato, squinted a little, and said, "I'm all right."
As the boy smiled at her, Chisato's heart did a somersault.
