Our f*cking SGH
Warning, this is a ranting post. I hope to inform as many people as possible.
SGH, so much for trying to be a top class hospital. Let me tell you, you suck... BIG TIME!
In case you might think why I am so negative, let me explain myself. I just came back from there from visiting a friend. He has cancer of somewhere in the abdomen (think I shall keep his identity confidential). Nothing wrong right? Allow me to explain.
My friend was experiencing stomach aches and he went to SGH for appointment. Doc said he's fine. But he kept having recurring stomach ache so he kept going back to SGH for consultation. Guess how many times? A freaking 7 times. And what did the doctor/doctors told him? He's fine and most probably it's psychological and refer him to a psychiatrist.
Finally, he fell sick and then the doctor diagnose that he has cancer. WTF?!?! You mean doctors are now taught to diagnose mental illness before any physical inspection? Ok, so fine, they diagnose him with cancer in the 3rd stage.
Think this is it? No... They found out the doctor wrote wrongly in the diagnosis. It is the final stage... Not the 3rd stage... Cool huh?
I can even go on to another story. My grandma (yes my personal story) had a stroke last year. My family panicked and sent her to SGH A&E. Of course we waited very long for her to be attended to but the registration counter nurse was chatting with another patient about the most absurd things. I had to scold her to hurry up before she attended to my grandma's registration. Then come the doctor to attend to her. We waited for 6 fucking hours before the doctor came. And what did he do? He just say, "Ok, we'll keep her here under observation" and then left.
My grandma then had to wait another 2hours before being warded. Then no doctor come to see her. In the wee hours in the night (around 1am), she vomitted blood. Doctor on duty did not come to see her (my younger sis was there and kept pestering the nurse to call the doctor to no avail). Then my grandma vomitted blood 2 more times and the doctor still did not come to see her. Desperate, my sis called me. I took a cab down and by the time I got there, the doc just went to see her, a f*cking 5hours after she first vomitted. Then he refered her to another doctor who will do a scope.
Reluctant to subject my grandma to another torture of the scope, I asked for her to be transfered to Mt Alvernia Hospital in private ambulance service. When she was there, the doctor immediately diagnose that she vomitted blood because she's having gastric. The blood came from her tongue which she accidentally bit the day before. No need for scope. See? Cool huh?
So conclusion? 2 conclusions I can draw.
1. All the doctors in SGH are fucked up.
2. Only few are fucked up but they are the only ones available to attend to patients.
It send chills to my spine to know what kind of public hospital service we've got here.
So if you need to seek urgent medical attention, avoid SGH at all costs unless you are tired of living.
