Mt Kinabalu [13 October 2004] - Day 2
Day 2. [13 October 2004]
Took a quick nap while weichong, lena, and ah heng (weichong's cousin) was watching the movie "13 going on 30" from the DVD that I bought from Batam. I was so tired, I didn't even know I knocked out on the bean bag. You could say that the tv actually gave me a knockout blow that sent me flying to the bean bag. *LAME*...
Anyway, was raring to go at 4am, was suppose to meet Ion after coming down from Seng Kang in a cab which we will ride to the Woodlands checkpoint. Reached Senai Airport in record time, and gosh was I surprised to see an extravagantly (a little overdoing it) small airport. (I was expecting some rundown, rusty little airport..
) Well, 2 thumbs up to our Malaysian counterparts.
Our flight went without a hitch, and in no time, we finally landed on Kota Kinabalu Airport. We were quick to grab our stuff and headed out to look for our pickup. Ion and weichong were happily enjoying their time taking pictures of the Sabah Times.
Our 2 hour ride to the Lodge was nothing more then just roads and more roads up the mountains. The view was fantastic and already breathtaking, you can already imagine how much better it would be at the peak. We stopped at a place called Mount Kinabalu Craft. This place was full of arts and crafts made by the locals. And these crafts definitely didn't come cheap. (I can imagine these stuffs collecting the dust at home).
10 minutes. That was how long more before we reached our temporary lodging. It was the Wildlife Mountain Lodge. I can only say that those beds were so soft I can fall right into them and not want to leave them for the mountains.
The lodge had a great view of the mountains and we were totally in awe at the majastic view of Mount Kinabalu. And yeah, this majastic mountain is going to be conquered by the three amatuer yet professional mountaineers.
Well, once at the lodge, there was nothing else we could do other then take pictures, talk cock, and wait for dinner. But hey, tomorrow is the day we conquer mount kinabalu.
