That scene was heartbreaking! You captured it perfectly with this drabble.

He works on, aching inside. Sometimes, the loudest, most painful voice is silence.

Ouch. *sniff* I'm so glad he has Donna now!

Oh, my heart broke when he looked up at the empty TARDIS. That was such a powerful moment in such an, otherwise, gleeful episode.

I don't think anyone could have watched those few seconds of the episode and not felt their heart wrenching for him. Poor Doctor.
