Mar 26, 2008 18:24

I know a lot of people on my flist are proud of their vocabulary. Well, here's a test for you, and at the same time you can earn grains of rice as contributions to the UN World Food Programme. For every word whose meaning you guess correctly, you'll earn 20 grains of rice towards the UN programme. 100 grains is a bowl.

It's all completely free; the ( Read more... )

What you didn't mention is that it is addictive. :) Level 45 and 1300 grains of rice. Probably should go make supper and do laundry before continuing. Thanks for sharing!!

Isn't it just? I spent way too much time on that site today in between clients. Fun, though.

I did a little dance when I got to 50 - although if you fall back from 50, it's almost impossible to get back up there again.

50!!!

Mind you, I went back to the window (kept it open) and was delighted when I got to 50 and even managed to stay there for three questions.

Then I got one wrong... :( Ah well!

Yeah, I got to 50 two or three times - stayed there about five rounds, I think, for the longest. The first time I got there, the first answer I got wrong, I got bounced back to 47. How is that fair?! ;-)

I made it to 48 and then Explorer crashed. Make of that what you will . . . :/ Admittedly, at the more rarified levels, I'm mostly guessing based off of prefix/suffix/root information . . . But still, it really is like crack. :D

'Grok' appeared at level 49, which just made my day. :-)

Made it to 50 because of some German words and several truly random words I don't even know why I know... but I seem to spend most of my time back and forth between levels 47 and 48.

That's a couple of thousand grains of rice and counting.

Thanks for posting this, it's really awesome! And it's giving me something to do when I can't sleep. (The flu hit two days ago. Me = dead.)

Aww, poor you! The flu is horrible. Currently suffering with painful sinusitis myself, and I can't concentrate enough to write, so this is better procrastination than playing card games ;)

Congratulations on 50!

... and I can't concentrate enough to write...

::commiserates::

I can't even really concentrate enough to read. I've been keeping a tab list of things to read and comment on when I feel even remotely human again.

I love that website! My highest so far is 41. Bah. *g* And it's a great exercise for etymology-type-stuff. (This is where my great vocabulary comes in...)

Keep trying! You can do better than 41.
