Oh, he knows they have to have this out some time. But he was hoping to put it off for a while longer. It’s only fair that he gets to be the one to choose the time and the place. He was the one lied to, after all: betrayed and deceived by the man he trusted above all others.

Think positive, Robbie. It could be work.

It’s not work. When he opens the ( Read more... )

Oh, this is great. I love their interaction, and I'm such a sucker for good dialogue this made me very happy.

Thank you! I'm at the stage with these characters where I hear their voices in my head, so writing dialogue seems to come easy - I just hope it sounds in character!

Terrific fic! So great to get a glimpse of the paperwork and fallout from after that case, and to see more of Lewis' thoughts on James' big lie. I loved your Lewis voice--so down to earth and a little growly (but just a little!).

Thank you! I've been looking for something like this - or, preferably, a lot longer than this dealing with the fallout from LBOF, but haven't found the sort of thing I'd really love to read (and I've been all the way through AO3 and the Lewis comm), so ended up writing this instead. I'm really glad you like my Lewis voice. Kevin Whately's always been magnificent as Lewis, both in Morse and now, and I'm delighted to hear that you think I got him right.

aww, this was lovely. Poor James, and I loved Robbie's processing of the whole thing as well, it felt real. Good job :-)

Many thanks! I would have loved to see something like this as part of the episode, but I know that's not the kind of thing that normally gets included; we're just supposed to assume that Lewis has forgiven James and that they probably never mention it again - or that it gets a couple of vague sentences over a pint, never to be mentioned again.
