Just saw Miracle Day part 2. Still loving it.
This is what I've been sorely missing in my Who viewing over the last eighteen months. Good characterisation, great human interest moments, danger and excitement balanced by real dialogue with continuity, a series and characters that don't take themselves too seriously (the series still pokes fun at itself), and episodes that keep my attention the whole way through.
Yes, the science (and perhaps other aspects) isn't always entirely accurate, but is DW science? Can any TV series be said to get everything right all the time? They don't, and often because taking short-cuts or taking liberties with reality makes better television. Viewers can choose to get frustrated with that - and I do get frustrated when it's something that doesn't particularly hold my interest, or has characters I dislike - or they can suspend disbelief.
There's a lot of dislike and snark around about Miracle Day, some of it pretty vicious, and some of it very personal, directed at RTD and in some cases actors also. There are some journals I'll be avoiding, or at least handling with care, for the next while. But at least
I'm not alone in my enjoyment and my ability to see the fun in it. I'm really looking forward to the next eight weeks!
Anyone else really enjoying Miracle Day? Feel free to chat about it here - officially a snark-free zone :)
