I just found
these photographs of central London, taken from a helicopter at night. Apart from being spectacular photos, for anyone who's never been to England and who wants to get an impression of how a large British city differs in 'feel' and appearance from a large city in the US they should at least give you some idea. In particular, note the roundabouts, the junctions and street layouts - no grid system here and definitely no 'blocks'. Lots of curved streets, angled junctions and a distinct lack of four-way crossroads.
Also, the views along the Thames, with Tower Bridge and the London Eye, are just gorgeous. Canary Wharf's in there too, but I didn't see much that reminded me of 'Torchwood Tower'.
