it's done!

Well we finally are finished with everything concerning the house, except living there of course. It's exciting. We signed a lease with the furry landlord Steve last Friday night. Denise's parents came up and read over the lease with us and we made only one or two changes and then signed. We did really well too because we're only paying for 10 months next year - why he is not charging us for the summer, even if no one will be living there is beyond me, but it's an extra $800 in my pocket. So we are all set. 76 W. Cleveland Ave. And it's exciting because Jon will live right behind us in another house with his frat brothers and Ray Street is 10 seconds away and Karron is applying to be an RA there! I love how we always end up right near each other without trying. Well, only this year and last year, but still I'm excited.

We picked rooms yesterday too. So that's finally over with. I was happy with the way it all worked out, I feel that everyone else was ok with it too. I mean, it's over now, there's nothing we're going to do about it now. And we have lots of time to adjust to it so it will all work out. Here's the break down:

Big room upstairs: Denise
Medium room upstairs: Me
Medium room downstairs: Carolyn
Small room upstairs: Diana

We picked numbers out of a hat to find an order to go in and it went Denise, me, Carolyn and Diana. Overall I thought that it worked out - especially since Denise and Carolyn got bigger rooms because they did work on the house a lot. And I got to be upstairs which was a goal. Anyway, not much more to say, even though it was a whole big hassle. Still, we're done!

So for all of those who don't care about my housing, welcome back. So far we've had a week of classes. Not so bad. Calculus is not as much fun as Costa Rica was, but a close second. No really, calc is going to be a challenge for me this semester. I wish that I could have taken it in high school, but that wasn't a possibility coming from St. Catherine's. Then I have Stat which is really not exciting at all. Did I mention that I'm never going to teach elementary school kids calc or stat? yeah, so they are a barrel of monkeys. Then I have physical science and we are learning about atoms right now - think 5th grade science class. Enough said. Hopefully it will get more challenging as we move past the basics. Spanish is good. I understand it all and I like grammar and such and I think I can take it in honors so that's exciting too. I really like Spanish and am really glad that I could get it into my schedule again. Then my favorite class is music in elementary schools. The bad part is that it only meets once a week, but it is so awesome. We sit on the floor in a circle and sing and learn basic music stuff and learn how to teach music and dance to little kids. It is a good time. I wish that I had that class more than once a week.

I am leading a church retreat in two weeks. Fromt he 25th-27th. I'm so excited!!! I went last year as a participant and am a leader now :) Carolyn is also a leader which is so awesome because it's amazing to go on retreat with one of your best friends. I would have had a good time without her, but I am so thankful that she is going. I have to give a talk, about something that Kim tells me which will be challenging to write but good. We had a meeting about it from 2:30-6:60 yesterday and another one from 2-6:30 next Sunday. It's a lot of time but worth it. I really like the other leaders, especially Mo, Hil, Vanessa, Jackie and Jack. I should say James too because he's the only one I left out, but I really don't know him! Ok he can be a favorite too :) So that is something to look forward to it.

Hmmmm, I had an ALD meeting too - get more involved, look up stuff for a banquet, look up scholarships blah blah blah. I need to go to a Battle for Life meeting on Wednesday too. Actually I want to see what it's about so I am looking forward to it.

Tomorrow is Nacho's night at Kate's for Costa Rica reunion!! Yes!!! Then I am going to the Bowling for Soup concert at the Stone Balloon with Denise, Carolyn and Diana. So it will be a busy night.

Ok, maybe I should eat before class. The babies are hungry :) haha j/k.

Have a lovely week all :)
¡Pura Vida!
con cariña,
~Karen
