So I've had a new preoccupation lately, and it's a good one: I'm buying a veggie-oil powered Mercedes in the next couple weeks, and swearing off gasoline for the foreseeable future. My new car will be old, beautiful, and best of all, carbon-free: its diesel engine will have been converted to run on recycled kitchen grease. I'm so, SO excited.
Jeff already purchased a beautiful dark grey Mercedes sedan which runs on vegetable oil, and we found a business online that delivers recycled oil to your house for free if you buy it in bulk.
My new car will look something like these sexy automobiles, all of which can be converted to veggie power:
I definitely think vegetable oil isn't the solution to the world's energy problems, but there's enough recycled waste oil in our area that this is a viable alternative for the time being. So when I start working in LA again in a couple of weeks, my daily commute will be guilt-free. And it may smell like french fries.
