Let the good times roll, sort of.

So I had a pretty interesting day yesterday. In the morning I went to the memorial service for the father of one of my best friends from high school. He died of a stroke on New Year's Day and I hadn't seen this friend of mine for about 4 years.

I went by myself and sat there watching it all, and I was really touched by the number of people who came, and the eulogies given for him. As tragic as it was for Carrie to lose her Dad, it was consoling that so many people came out, and that people had such beautiful things to say about their relationships with him.

Later that day I ate dinner at Native Foods with Sean, which was awesome. The whole memorial service had put me in kind of a reflective mood and it was good to sit and talk for awhile. Then that night I went down to one of the crappy downtown Fullerton bars to see Odelia and John Frum. The bar was so busy that they were serving drinks in plastic Dixie cups, and most everybody was thoroughly trashed by the end of the night. Odelia and John Frum were awesome as usual. Something about John Frum, they always incite a frenetic dance party of drunken women at every one of their shows. Maybe they release some kind of pheromone while they're playing, I don't know. I guess it has something to do with their music being fabulous. It is always a sight to behold, though, and much fun to participate in.

Then we went to the R.E.D. house, drank more, laughed more, and danced to Pulp until the wee, wee hours. So much fun.
