today i helped a freshman figure out how to work the card- operated printer in the library. it left me feeling deliciously magnanimous.
my Age of Total War professor reminds me of the Kebler elf, except he talks like Ace Ventura. I saw a Pink Floyd t-shirt at walmart and called Angelo. He didn't pick up the phone, but now I feel like complaining about the commercialization of past pop cultures by big name retailers. please dont mistake that bitterness for fiscal liberality.
i'm walking around campus in a sweater even though its 90 degrees because i'm hoping God will get the hint and hurry fall. i heard whispers of hurricane Katrina in New orleans. hurricane season is my favorite season. i feel like the east coast renews itself every fall after day long destructions. and since i have never really let go of my desire to call virginia beach home, maybe that's what i do. or maybe not. maybe i just like lightning.
I remember freshman year here when hurricane (isabel?) hit richmond and emily and i were on the eleventh floor of the bad-ass-in because our dorm wasnt finished being built and we lost power so jeremiah and i stood in the dark looking out the window watching tiles from roofs across the street fly off. then we played some board game in the hallway under the lights of someone's battery operated lap top. then we drove off into the storm in search of an open 7-11 to buy food and cigarettes, dodging fallen trees in the road. that was a grand day. i'm glad i dont live in a hotel anymore.
i should go eat something.
