I read it!

I could say much the same thing myself. Feels like the entirety of political culture in this country, no matter how you're aligned, has changed from being merely unaccommodating to us introverts (and suchlike), to outright hostility and suppression. And I can't react with anger, even if I had that anger in me, because then I'm just playing their game.

You are probably the only one!

I don't view our political culture as hostile to introverts by design-I don't think anybody's doing it on purpose-but politics is so inherently social that there's just nothing to be done about it. I wish I had millions of dollars and could quietly support causes I believe in.

You're probably right, no one's doing it on purpose. But that's because the entire system discounts participation that's not either loud and public, accompanied by massive amounts of money, or (preferably) both. It's not like they choose to ignore our voices; they don't even hear them in the first place, we operate in such different spheres. I've been much more locally focused, out of necessity, so I see this happen live in person. Just yesterday, I was comparing it to Miéville's The City and the City.

Meanwhile, good to see you, even if only virtually!

Indeed! Are you planning to hit up ALTA this year?

I would love to, but I'm the VP of the board of our local food co-op, and we're all going to a conference that same weekend. Plus I'm unemployed and broke, which hasn't stopped me in the past, but it's much worse now.

Unemployed and broke sucks. I hope your co-op conference is local/they're paying for it!

Yeah, they pay everything--it's in Hood River, and there's plenty of good food. Lasting until then is still a quandary, of course.
