Incident report 9-24-05

On the night of Saturday September 24th 2005 I was working at the Raintree Resort for 8pm-4am. During my shift there I had a situation arise with a drunken guest. At the time I was not aware of his name since he would not tell it to myself, the security guard, Shauna *, or the two different police offices that were dispatched from the Lake Delton. However I now have come to understand that his name is Giberto *.

I became aware of this guest around 1:30am. I went over to the lounge to check on the bartender, Amanda *. Amanda told me she was getting ready to close up, but was simply waiting for Giberto to finish his cigarette. I left the bar and to me Giberto did not seem too drunk. Around 2:30am Amanda came out of the bar after cleaning it to drop her bank for the evening. She said that he (Giberto) would not leave the bar and kept demanding her to “light his cigarettes”. Amanda said he left to go to the bathroom so she simply placed his cigarettes out on the couch near the men’s bathroom, so he could have them when he exited the bathroom, and closed and locked the bar. At this time Shauna went to investigate Giberto in the restroom. He has knocked over a large vase and a palm tree on his way to the restroom.

Shauna called to him in the restroom to see if he was all right, and not passed out on the toilet. He stated he was fine. Shauna went to use the restroom, and during this time Giberto must have exited the men’s restroom and wandered out into the parking lot. Amanda and I noticed him out there so I decided to walk her out to her car. Giberto was leaning against a white sedan of sorts with his belt undone, as if he intended to urinate in the parking lot. I returned to the desk and continued to train Shauna on Night Audit.

Things continued on the rest of the evening rather smoothly, Giberto was no longer in the parking lot and we assumed he made it to his room. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Around 3am Shauna noticed Giberto was back this time lacking any sort of pants or underwear covering him. He wore nothing more than a red shirt that hung just below his hips and white cowboy boots, and that was all. Shauna went out to confront him, while I stayed in the back office finishing the Audit for the evening. I could hear Giberto yelling at Shauna from the back. I went out and she asked me to call the Lake Delton Police Department. I made the call and returned to the front desk to make sure things were fine until the police arrived.

When the police arrived they handcuffed Giberto because he was belligerently drunk. They continued to ask him where his pants were and what room he was in, to which he deflected most of their questions. He kept yelling about his lost wallet and how we had taken it from him and that there was $400 in there. Shauna had checked the bar for him and even allowed him to look, but it was not there. The offices were finally able to get the name Maria * out of Giberto, so I called the room and the office asked the guests to come to the desk. At this time Maria and another man came down and the officer explained what had been happening. The officer then received another call and released Giberto into Maria’s custody. We attempted to get all his information so the officer could send out tickets to him.

After the guests left Shauna entered the men’s bathroom to see if Giberto had possibly left his wallet in there. To which she found change strewn about the floor and his pants and one of our urinals covered in feces. After placing the pants in a lager black garbage bag Shauna returned them to room 300.

On my way to Madison around 6am I called my sister, Meghan *, who would be relieving Shauna at the desk at 7am. I informed her of the night’s incident and asked her to get 3 copies of Giberto’s license (for myself, the police, and the manager of the resort). Meghan did as I asked and called me later to tell me that she had left a copy of the license in my mailbox at work, and that funny as it was, Giberto was in a jolly mood Sunday morning and simply pulled out his wallet out of his back pocket (the one he claimed we were holding from him) and allowed her to copy the license.
