I am going to run the 10th Marathon tomorrow. Looking back on all the 42.195km that I have completed, I wondered whether the 300km that is crowned onto me is really 实至名归, as it is only the 7th SCSM that I am taking part. (past 10km and 21km counted bo?)

1 Dec 2019 Sunday
Finally reached home after 3am this morning, cos it was really difficult to hail a taxi or Grab it at North Bridge Road. Many people were seen using the same apps then.
Even McD at Raffles City was crowded and long queues. Pity me, unable to get home and stomach was growling.
No PB. Result is better than last race by a meagre few minutes. Waiting for official net timing announcement. It was not a difficult race, weather has been good to run at night. But I must say my body condition has not been good. Shall elaborate more in my next post.
Congrats to everyone who has achieved your dreams. Rest well and put the sweet dreams in memory. Enjoy the holidays season.
2 Dec 2019 Monday
I run less in 2019, only 3 fingers are able to say it all. 2XU 21km, Eco Run 21km and this SCSM 42km. Main reasons are no time, no money, no talk. 😄 I gave my time priority to NDP dance training, and only did leisure runs during my free time, although I was still doing serious run training with Mileage.
My body condition has not been good this year. Flu, cough and leg injury prevented me to train during the planned training dates. I even require acupuncture treatment to my right knee from my doctor friend. She is good, my leg healed with just 2 times of poking.
And back to SCSM. I was closing my RQ50 celebration with the race in a bang. My 10th marathon turned out to be better than the last race in 2017 only. And it was a memorable experience to have my wife, my son and my MIL to cheer me on. Thanks them for coming.
https://www.facebook.com/Karenyap.littletwinstar/videos/10157673735632192/ As I train less, therefore I must run carefully. Coach KM gave me precious advice on how to run just days before the marathon. I followed his advice to run 2.5km in 7 min/km pace and walk 5 minutes during the race. I felt good for the first 26km. But once I passed the 26km mark, before the 26.2km water point, I couldn't help but have to sit down, close my eyes to rest immediately, because the last 2 fingers of my both hands began to feel numb. I knew it was a body sign as I experienced it during my 2016 marathon. I would not be able to walk if I insisted to continue running.
But fortunately, I only rested 4 times during the full 42km. One was at the 30km mark, one was at the Rhu Cross water point, then another one was at Marina Barrage water point. For the rest of the distance after 26km, I did slow jogs and walking, allowed the 5:30 pacers to bypass me when I rested for the third time. I also checked my urine twice as I worried that the 2017 marathon incident might happen too.
I am going to find out how my fingers get numb. Is it due to the high blood pressure? The current running shoes do not provide cushion enough, I can always feel the hard surface during the race. I may want to change a new pair for my next race to come. In the meantime, rest my legs for one week before I start my recovery run routine, I may join more in Parkrun for next year. Another SCSM in 2020? See how first la. 😄
