Dollhouse ramblings

Tom and I just Netflixed disc 4 of Dollhouse (the one with the original pilot and the unaired season finale "Epitaph One"). "Epitaph One" was awesome, in large part because it showed that Joss has REALLY thought out the implications of his premise in a way that I didn't think he had. The original pilot was less so.

Honestly? I think in someways Epitaph One made me like Dollhouse less. I was so impressed with that episode, but I realized THAT was the show I wanted to be watching, rather than the reality of what we get on the screen every week. Epitaph One finally lived up to the potential of the show, but I felt like then it was right back to being a show that I probably wouldn't even be watching anymore if I wasn't such a Whedon fan, in spite of the fact that there have been a few truly good episodes here and there.

That's fair. I'm now really enjoying the way the groundwork is being laid for it in Season 2, though, especially the Topher stuff. Although one of the better things about Epitaph One was that Eliza Dushku was barely in it, which we sadly can't say for the average episode . . .
